Hi everyone,
My name is Melissa and I was 10 years old when I first read Walter Farley's book on Man O'War. It began the love affair with thoroughbred horses and the entire business of racing. A love affair that friends and family couldn't really understand, but one which I pursue today, watching races with my infant son, Noah, whenever there is one on television. I am constantly researching and reading books and articles on the web about all my favs and Man'O War is definitely one of my favs. He was a powerhouse, a true competitor that stood his ground and won his races with the heart and speed that God gave him. What I wouldn't give to have seen him just once in one of his races. I live in Windsor, Ontario Canada. For those who don't know it, it was in this small city, that MAn O' War faced and defeated Sir Barton in the Great Match Race. Kenilworth Park, is no longer a race track. Instead it is a public garden and park, with no mention that a fantastic race between two wonderful horses took place. This is unfortunate. I just wanted to sat thank you to Beth for setting up a great website and for this message board. One more thing before I sign off, I am currently reading a book by Dorothy Ours on Man'o War. A very interesting read. It gives you an inside look at the sport of racing with all its glamor and glitz and its rough spots too. Of course, the best thing about it is Man' O War. Talk to you all soon
