Joaquín es un joven peruano que descubre que es homosexual, en una sociedad nada comprensiva con los gays. Su familia le rechaza y tiene que ir en busca de alguien que le entienda y ame tal y como es. Desde pequeño, su padre le ha intentado educar para que sea lo más macho posible, e incluso le arregló una cita con una prostituta de las que él frecuentaba para que su hijo perdiera su virginidad. Desde que se aceptó a sí mismo como gay, Joaquín pierde el contacto con sus padres y hermana y empieza a mantener algunas relaciones esporádicas. Mientras, entrará también en el mundo de la droga.

Angie Cepeda y Salvador del Solar, los protagonistas de Pantaleón y las visitadoras, bajaron a las once de la mañana del lunes, al Salón Amazonas del Hotel Crowne Plaza, ubicado en Carlos Pellegrini 525 (a dos cuadras del Obelisco). Junto a al director Francisco Lombardi , (que recién llegó de Montreal en donde fue jurado del festival de cine y está por viajar a San Sebastián para el festival de esa ciudad), conversaron con la prensa y con El Foco, acerca de este filme, basado en la novela homónima del escritor peruano Mario Vargas Llosa.

La actriz colombiana Angie Cepeda es conocida en nuestro país por ser la novia del cantante Diego Torres. Además de la novela que en este momento está al aire en Argentina, se la pudo ver en las pantallas de TV protagonizando Las Juanas. Al igual que su compañero de cartel, esta es la tercera película en la que Cepeda trabaja. Vestida con unos pantalones blancos y una remerita del mismo color con corazones turquesas, esta joven colombiana trató de escaparle al prototipo de "actriz de novelas". "Yo soy una actriz y punto". Aunque no pudo evitar hablar sobre el género televisivo que la lanzó a la fama: "La novela te limita porque los personajes no son demasiado complejos y porque para trabajar en una novela hay que estar full time. Te pagan por tu trabajo y porque no tienes tiempo para hacer otra cosa. Me encantaría hacer teatro, pero no hay muchas propuestas en Colombia, a diferencia de lo que es Buenos Aires. También quiero aprender, quiero estudiar porque siento que no estoy creciendo como actriz". Entre sus proyectos, Cepeda viajará el año que viene a nueva York, para estudiar actuación durante un año.

Sus atributos físicos podrán ser admirados gracias al desnudo que hace en la película. Según contó: "Era la primera vez que hacía una escena de este tipo y creo que todo lo desconocido te inquieta. Pero después de hablar con Pancho, que se mostró comprensivo conmigo y con Salvador, que es serio y buen compañero, en todas las escenas, más allá del pequeño sustito de que quedaran bien o mal, me sentí muy bien y tranquila. Mi preocupación era, más que si estaba o no desnuda, si la escena quedaba bien o no. Además cuando dicen acción, eres otra persona".

En Perú, su país de origen, la película convocó a casi un millón de espectadores, una cifra extraordinaria para una producción local que, luego del auge de los 80, había perdido la gran mayoría de sus seguidores. Dijo el director: "El cine peruano tuvo una relación muy buena con el público durante la década del 80. Era más atractiva una película peruana que una extranjera. Eso se perdió en los noventa. De pronto, en el 98 con No se lo digas a nadie, basada en una novela exitosa de Jaime Baily, se logró una película de éxito. Y Pantaleón... mejoró esas cifras. El cine peruano tiene grandes dificultades para producirse, se hacen cuatro o cinco películas por año, con muchos impedimentos. Hacer una película en Perú es algo heroico. Los cineastas celebramos una realización como un acontecimiento muy especial y muy meritorio. Estos dos filmes marcaron la recuperación de la buena relación entre el cine peruano y su público".

Francisco Lombardi

Con esta, son once las películas que realizó Lombardi y tiene una, Tinta roja a punto de ser estrenada. Las últimas, Bajo la piel y No se lo digas a nadie, todavía no pasaron por Argentina. Rubén Casares comentó al respecto que tienen intenciones de estrenar la cinta basada en la novela de Baily, pero que todavía no consiguieron los derechos de su exhibición. Agregó, además, que los distribuidores de los Hoyts Cinema (las salas de los shopping Abasto y Unicenter) le bajaron el pulgar a Pantaleón...: "Quiero que se haga público que Pantaleón y las visitadoras no será exhibida en los cines del Abasto ni en los de Unicenter debido a la nacionalidad de la película. En este país hay gente que prioriza la nacionalidad por sobre la calidad de la película. Son ignorantes que no tienen idea de lo que es el buen cine". Sin embargo confirmó que hay 26 copias en el país. "Espero que no nos encontremos con gente tan racista en el resto del país". También agregó: "la noticia nos fue comunicada recién y realmente nos sorprendió".

Salvador del Solar


En cambio, Salvador del Solar, quien personifica al correcto Pantaleón comentó: "las personas que se encargan de la programación de las películas en las salas tienen en cuenta lo redituable que puede resultarles un film. Respeto su decisión. No son artistas, sino comerciantes. Si esta decisión impide que gente tanto de nuestro país como argentinos, tengan negada la posibilidad de ver la película y deban ir a otro cine, entonces no están haciendo un buen negocio. Yo estoy orgulloso de la película que hicimos y me gustaría compartir con el público la historia que allí estamos contando".

El actor, que junto a Angie Cepeda también protagoniza la novela Pobre Diabla, fue premiado por este, su tercer trabajo cinematográfico, en los festivales de Cartagena de Indias (Colombia), de Troia (Portugal) y en el de Gramado (Brasil). Vestido con una camisa azul marino, unos pantalones negros y el pelo con gel (tan prolijo como su personaje), habló sobre el éxito que tuvo con su militar obsesionado por hacer las cosas bien: "Toda la experiencia con Pantaleón me ha dado una felicidad muy grande. Nuestras expectativas no estaban guiadas a la cantidad de público sino a que la gente pudiera ver una película que la divirtiera, que la conmoviera. Creo que eso se demostró, no sólo por la cantidad de público, sino también por los comentarios. Para mí eso ya fue un premio. Por su puesto que también fue importante haber recibido un reconocimiento a mi trabajo en Cartagena, Portugal y Brasil". En cuanto a la película, fue premiada en Brasil, en donde también ganó el premio del público, el de mejor director, mejor guión y el premio de la crítica. Además, fue seleccionada por Perú para competir en la entrega de los Oscar del 2001 como mejor película extranjera.

El director, además de ser cineasta latinoamericano más premiado en el festival de San Sebastián, divide su tiempo entre el cine y el fútbol, deporte en el que se desempeña como presidente del Club peruano Sporting Cristal. "No tengo todo el tiempo que me gustaría para darle al club. Son dos cosas que no son compatibles". Pero en seguida regresa a los motivos que lo llevaron a filmar la novela de Vargas Llosa, de la que ya se había hecho una versión, en 1975, protagonizada por José Sacristán: "Fueron muchas cosas, por un lado se juntaron las ganas que tenía de acercarme al mundo de Varga Llosas, un autor que me atrapó a los 14, 15 años, y que me hizo descubrir el gusto por la literatura. Por otro lado, el personaje de Pantaleón me atrajo mucho, me pareció de lo más interesante, sentido, y humano, que la literatura latinoamericana pudo haber dado. Esa cosa obsesiva, enfermiza y, a la vez, ese punto humano que Pantaleón tiene en los momentos decisivos de la película fue lo que más me gustó. Es entrañable y conmovedor. Dentro de mi manera de hacer cine, uno de los puntos de partida son siempre los personajes. Pantaleón es uno de los grandes personajes con los que me he topado".

Del Solar confesó mostrarse sorprendido al descubrir las similitudes que lo acercan a este hombre de ficción: "Yo trato de ser ordenado y siempre fui un niño muy obediente. Y entre la obediencia y la disciplina encontré puntos en común, pero no en un nivel tan obsesivo o exagerado. Aunque quizás mi esposa pueda decir lo contrario".

A partir del jueves 14 de septiembre, Pantaleón y las visitadoras, una de las películas que mejor representa al cine latinoamericano, se podrá disfrutar en los cines argentinos.

LIMA, Set 28 (AFP) - La actriz colombiana Angie Cepeda viajará a España para trabajar en la película "Locura de amor", bajo la dirección del realizador español Vicente Aranda, una vez que culmine en Lima el rodaje de la telenovela "Pobre Diabla", adelantó este jueves a la prensa de espectáculos.
"Es una cinta de época en la que tengo un papel pequeño. Aparezco sólo en diez escenas", dijo la actriz, que destacó que entre los actores del reparto se encuentra el hijo el actor francés Gerard Depardieu.
Cepeda, ampliamente conocida en Lima por su trabajo en varias telenovelas pero principalmente por su aplaudida actuación en la película peruana "Pantaleón y las Visitadoras", dijo que una vez que culmine las escenas de "Locura de amor" regresará inmediatamente a Perú, para iniciar los trabajos de la película "El destino no tiene favoritos".
"No quiero desaprovechar ninguna de las dos oportunidades", dijo la artista colombiana en un alto de la filmación de "Pobre Diabla".

La actriz colombiana Angie Cepeda, está preparando sus maletas. Dejará el Perú el próximo 20 de octubre, mismo día en que termina el rodaje de la telenovela nacional Pobre Diabla, donde interpreta el papel protagónico junto al galardonado Salvador del Solar.
Su viaje se debe a que pronto empezará el rodaje de la película Loco de amor, del director Vicente Aranda, protagonizada por el famoso actor francés Gerard Depardieu, donde ella también tiene un papel.
El rodaje de la mencionada cinta durará aproximadamente dos meses y debido a ello Angie a tenido que adelantar las grabaciones de Pobre Diabla, lo que también ha afectado el ritmo de trabajo de todo el elenco de la telenovela de América Producciones
Pero eso no es lo único que la actriz ha sacrificado por participar en la cinta española. También ha tenido que olvidarse del viaje a la Argentina que tenía planeado para pasar una temporada con su pareja, el cantante Diego Torres.
A pesar de su partida, los peruanos sabemos que pronto volveremos a tener a Angie entre nosotros, pues es un hecho su participación en la película El destino no tiene favoritos, del director peruano Alvaro Velardo, donde compartirá roles con Christian Meier, Elena Romero, Paul Vega, Rebeca Ráez y Tatiana Astengo entre otros. La estaremos esperando.

Angie Cepeda deja el Perú
Angie Cepeda, a quien en estos días vemos en Pobre Diabla y la miniserie Pantaleón y las visitadoras, dejará el Perú el 20 de octubre, fecha en que concluirá su trabajo en la telenovela nacional que protagoniza junto a Salvador del Solar.
La culpable de que Angie nos deje es la película española Loco de amor donde la recordada Lucecita hará un pequeño papel. Esta cinta es dirigida por Vicente Aranda y protagonizada por el reconocido actor francés Gerard Depardieu.
Debido a este rodaje, que durará aproximadamente dos meses, Angie ha tenido que adelantar la grabación de todas sus escenas en Pobre Diabla, donde le da vida a Fiorella Morelli. Esto no solamente ha generado el que la actriz trabaje día y noche en los estudios de América Producciones, también tuvo que cancelar su viaje a Argentina, donde tenía planeado pasar unos días con su pareja, el cantante Diego Torres. Incluso, la colombiana no pudo estar presente la noche del martes último en el concierto que brindó su compatriota Carlos Vives.
Esta situación ha afectado a sus compañeros de trabajo, quienes han tenido que cambiar su ritmo de vida debido al nuevo plan de grabaciones.
Aunque todavía no sabe cuándo, el retorno de Angie es un hecho. El motivo: su participación en la cinta El destino no tiene favoritos del director peruano Alvaro Velarde, donde comparte roles con Christian Meier, Elena Romero, Paul Vega, Rebeca Ráez y Tatiana Astengo, entre otros.

I knew Redford would come. A friend of mine has a friend who looks exactly like Robert Redford, and she wants them to meet, so we are "waiting" for Redford, but I didn't know Brad Pitt would come also. I will try to meet them too. You know, if something like this starts, it is difficult to stop yourself. Finally I have a friend at the airport, who ususally knows who comes when (she is a customs officer).
