Response to probably not

well, this movie was good (I actualy liked it a lot), I guess it was not the only good foreign movie of the year, the one that won maybe was not bad, but Amelie is a major problem for the us movie industry : it has been quite popular worldwide even in the us, that could have been a good reason to make it win... except that there was not a single dollar in the production. Usually, the foreign "best of the year" can only be a movie of one of these two kinds : (1) a never released in the us movie or (2) a foreign movie made quite only with american money, sometime english speaking. It has not always been like that, but that's how I understand this. Also, Jeunet often said he needs to make a "Alien : resurection" for money to be able to make an "Amelie" after. This kind of statement could have been ok if Amelie didn't make as much money as "alien : resurection". For me a good foreign movie that gets popular in the us and makes money without making the us entertainement industry earn some money is an UFO, something that shouldn't have happen. Well, I guess so anyway.
(sorry for my terrible unpracticed english)
