the car went to my aunt, who sold it shortly after my uncle's death. The engine went to someone else, I forget who, but I'm sure that is long gone. The car has probably been bought + sold several times since my aunt had it, so tracking it down would be tricky. It was spotted a looong time ago(20+ years) but since then, nothing. My uncle was building the car in his early 20s, and before he was able to finish it, he got cancer and died... When I get out of college, I'm going to sell my '69 coupe and buy a 67 fastback, and attempt to build a replica of his car. The cammer will set me back a few bucks.... but hopefully I'll have a decent job. If I piece the engine together from a bit of scrounging, I think I could build the whole engine for $15,000... The rest of the drivetrain will be a few thousand, and if I buy a beat up 67(no point in buying a nice one, its going to be taken completely apart either way) and do the resto work myself I could probably buy and fix up the whole car for $10,000... I think $30,000 is a reasonable goal for the finished product. Hopefully by the time I get out of college my '69 will be worth $10k... That'd be a good start! Then the 67 will sit in my garage except a few times a year when I trailer it to the track or take it for a cruise... I can dream!
