Response to Calypso Coral? |
| Ausome72:
Yes the car is Calypso Coral (not sure if spelling is correct). I know with how dark it was when Jerry was shooting the pictures it is hard to distinguish between it and the the factory red. It was kind of nuts that he decided to do the photo shoot when he did. The immense storm that hit the Las Vegas Motor Speedway that day shut down the event for the rest of the day. He then approached me and suggested we do the shoot right then before more approaching storms. He said he liked the color of the car against the dark backdrop of the stormy desert mountains. Either way it was a pain in the %#@ to get the numbers off the car, race tires off, the axle grease cleaned off the back of the car and the engine compartment somewhat cleaned (had some oil out the breathers and all over the engine compartment), rubber build up off the sides of the car and have this ready for him to shoot 45 minutes after we just got done beating the ever lovin crap out of the car. We made it happen for him but went immediately to have quite a few barley pops back at the hotel/casino. When I get some time I'll try to post the engine build where it belongs. I have no idea when the car will be in the magazine although Jerry called to tell me his editor liked it alot and said it would be in one of the upcoming issues. I guess Mustang Monthly is going with more resto-mod (modified) articles but he and I thought it would end up in Mustangs & Fords (sister publication).
Either way we had a great time (before the storm) at the track and in Vegas as well. A group of 10 friends from Missoula, Montana caravaned in a limo all the way with me (1,000 miles) and as you can imagine, had a great time! As the saying goes, "What went on in Vegas - stayed there!" In addition I was helping a friend from Wisconsin (Jim Fay) debut his new watts link on my car. It is a FAYS2 watts link (www.fays2.net) and it helped the car like no other suspension mod I've made to date. He got alot of publicity out of the track day and had fun as well.
If I can fab up an aircleaner to work with the Funnelweb and the shaker I'll post the fix to this site. Thanks, Mike |
