Why ND is Over-rated

As of 5 Nov 05, the F-ing irish are 6-2. And the pollsters love them...the human pollsters that is. While the human polls have the irish ranked as high as 8th, the BCS places them no higher than 14th. Could this be because the irish's 6 wins have come against teams with a collective 22-31 record? Maybe. Or is it because only one of the 6 teams they've beaten is ranked in the top 25...Michigan, currently ranked 22nd.

The simple answer is the F-ing irish are over-rated. The have a great new coach, but he's just that...new. There is no reason at all they should be ranked in the top 10, and shouldn't be in the future even if they win out when you consider the records of the teams they have left to play... a current combined 10-14, with none of them ranked.

It will be justice to watch them, as the media darling they are, go to a bowl game and get blown-out by a team they won't even have earned the right to play in the first place.

you and your poor pity party

November 23 2005, 8:20 PM

I accidentally came accross the website and out of mere curiosity HAD to read all the crap people could possibly have to say! I am almost appalled...
Ratings? Fair Weather Fans? New coach? Are you all 10 years old??? Really!!! I have never read such junior high remarks in all my life. I have been an ND fan since practically before I could talk. Has nothing to do with TV or ratings or BCS bullcrap! It's shear Blue and Gold. Thats it...tradition. Standards. Coaching staff has changed drastically (thank GOD) and for the better (even YOU people can't deny that!). Since they were wearing leather caps on the field and the forward pass was invented the Fighting Irish have been a name, doesn't matter for what reason... good grief.
Yes, the pushing the player over the goal line was a penalty. Yes, if it had been us, I would have expected it to be reviewed...don't put words in my mouth. I like a fair game. I believe the BCS is based on Strength of Schedule. And the more the teams that we win or lose to win, the better we look. Use some common sense. If we start out unranked, and then we win some games to a couple of ranked teams (Mich, Purdue, Tenn) and then of course the team that we lost to (Mich St.) lost several times...that tends to boost us up just a bit!! Do you understand HOW the BCS works?? And don't give the that b.s. about not deserving to be in the Fiesta Bowl... USC shouldn't even be ranked if you looked at their schedule... sheer luck they happen to be better than all the unranked teams they've played!! I HOPE THEY WIN OUT SO WE CAN TAKE THAT TITLE AWAY FROM THEM NEXT YEAR!!!!!

GO IRISH!!!

well 1) id say its pretty childish to STILLL be whining about your penalty when the truth is it happens probably over 10 times a game EVERY GAME

2) if usc is so bad, then explain the 55-19 romp over oklahoma last year in the national championship. oh did oklahoma suck that bad too? they beat this years national championship contenders in texas and the rest of their above average big12 schedule. youve gotta be stoned to let the words come out of your mouth that usc has a mediocre team. and notre dame sucks worse than usc no matter had good or bad usc is cuz they LOST to them. :) you just got your point rammed down your throat.

Jealous

January 7 2006, 4:34 PM

I also stumbled on this site accidently and I have to agree whole heartedly with author of "pity party". Those who hate ND on this site are really quite childish. Frankly, I have to wonder if football isn't really the issue here. Notre Dame is a family--a Catholic family--a family that sticks together. I am thinking that some folks are simply jealous that they are not part of such a wonderful university and tradition.

Why people hate Notre Dame

January 21 2006, 10:36 PM

People talk about notre dame family and tradition, but people dont hate notre dame because there not in the club. My dad used to be an alabama fan and later became a florida gator, and teams in the south were always at a disadvantage. If Alabama and Notre Dame had identical records, ND would get the nod because of their large draw. this would give notre dame a better chance to be in a national championchip game, and believe me, alabama got left out in the rain a lot because of that. Another thing is the ridiculous amount of money notre dame gets for their bowl games. and of course, some people think they should just get over themselves and join a conference. Its harder for some teams, like teams in the ACC and SEC because they play in tough conferences (even the big 12, there underrated), and notre dame's schedule normally has weak teams for half the year. Its like feeding meat to the wolves, and its nice because it helps pad their stats and wins.

So, thats why people hate notre dame. As for me, i dont realy hate them per se, there just fun to make fun of.

And besides, UT and UF are the best, no matter what (well, UT is the best for real this year. Vince Young is a beast).
