The Dome's 8th straight loss in a bowl game. Further proof Notre Dame doesn't belong in a bowl game, especially a BCS bowl game.

Wasn't as close as the score indicated. OSU manhandled them in the trenches and blew a lot of opportunities to really blow them out. Thank you Ohio State for showing that ND didn't belong in the BCS - you made them look like a Pop Warner team out there.

I don't understand how all of you can sit back and see this as a defeat to the irish. they were not supposed to win this game, they were the underdogs. i love how all the morons on this try and pick out the details of an unsuccessful season for notre dame, such as losing to michigan state and usc. just to name some, brady quinn as a jr. shattered so many records and notre dame went 10-2 with a 1st year coach. don't even try and tell me how that is an unsuccessful season. they have almost every player coming back next year and i can't wait to see some posts after we go 10-1 or even 11-0. it's touching how you all hate notre dame but respect them as a solid team who made it to a bcs game under a talented group of guys.

Yea, but most of the records Brady Quinn broke were Ron Powlus' records. That isn't saying much. Where is Ron Powlus today? Also, this wasn't Charlie Weis' team, it was Ty Willingham's team. We'll have to give Charlie a few years to screw things up.

with what defense?

January 3 2006, 3:43 PM

Not with a defense that gives Up 617 yards... which was the most a ND had given up ever! They suck and are completely overated... Could there be any fans who know less about football than the domers?

News for you folks, people don't care about your stupid tradtions...You can't walk on water. True, smart kids go to school at ND, but they become accountants not football players.

Join a conference and play some decent teams

Next Year?

January 4 2006, 1:37 PM

Yes you wait unitl next year when ND finish 11-0? My friend you will be waiting a long while for a Norte Dame team to finish a season undeafeated, try the rest of your freakin life. Notre Dame football is gone from their glory days and never coming back. First of all this team has players the previous coach recruited, it remains to be seen how Weiss will be able to recruit. You talk about Quinn breaking school passing records, would that be records of living legends Ron Powlus and Rick Mierer? Thats not really saying much about anything, except Quinn will go on to suck in the NFL and not win any meanigful games at ND. In the game against Ohio State they got out played in every aspect, speed, power and every other aspect of the game. You think by next season ND players are goiung to be magically faster and stronger to compete with the major football powers of collge football, because Norte Dame has been a mid major school for the last 15 years. The only way they are going to be able to compete if they go back to the steriod days of Lou Holtz era. You can be excited for next year because the team your bringing back has an poor defense, no ability to run the ball, and a passing game that doesnt get the job done when it matters. Its one thing to score against BYU, Navy, or a horrible Tennesse team but against teams that were good, Norte Dame couldnt do it. Your team will not be 11-0. or 10-1 or anything even close to that. Also the BCS is wise to the fact that you cant win against major teams so they will not bail you out with a BCS bid for old times sake. Norte Dame football is all about enjoying Charlie Weiss for the rest of your life cause he just got signed to a lifetime exstenstion for showing up to work 10 minutes early.

Did you hear about Charlie saying that ND had played a great defense (Tennessee) prior to Ohio State? He made the Tennessee defense sound as great as the Ohio State defense (A.J. Hawk was amazing).

No doubt the toughest defense ND faced all season was the incredible Ohio State defense. The Tennessee defense did not prepare ND for the defense they were ultimately up against.

Of course they will win a lot of games next year...HAVE YOU SEEN THEIR SCHEDULE? They play ALL the armed forces teams...ALL OF THEM. Army check, Navy check, Air Force check. The sad thing is next year they'll get invited to another great bowl game, and another great team will crush them...just like the past EIGHT times.

"I don't understand how all of you can sit back and see this as a defeat to the irish."

Here's how this works. Ohio State scored 34 points. Notre Dame scored 20 points. Since Ohio St. scored more points than Notre Dame, Ohio St. won the football game. That means the Irish lost the game. One synonym for the word "loss" is "defeat". That's how we can "sit back and see this as a defeat for the Irish."

Notre Dame made it to a BCS game on a 10-2 record against a very weak schedule and via special rules (read: lower standards) for qualifying to be in that game. The Fiesta Bowl was much, much more one-sided than the final score would suggest. If Ohio St. hadn't stopped Ohio St. a couple times, this would have been a monstrous blowout. Still, the game going as it did, the BCS should be a little more reluctant to allow a 10-2 Notre Dame team into another big bowl game.

I'm sorry. I meant a 9-2 Notre Dame team...9-3 after the big loss.

Eight in a row. I like that. So this year's dome team gets an undeserved BCS bowl bid, gets exposed on prime time national TV, didn't win the game, didn't cover the spread, and got outclassed by a superior team.

Thank you, Ohio State! Man, I am so glad that OSU kicked the stuff out of Notre Dame, that it is not even funny. I have never rooted so hard for the Buckeyes before, but yesterday--I was on the Buckeye bandwagon.

And for the person who said that the Irish were the underdogs, please stop lying to yourself. If the Irish would have won this game, you would have been saying that they were supposed to win. Now, it is "they were not supposed to win" "This was an unsuccessful year". What, the Golden Domers wanted to fix the game? Face it, the Irish were overrated and got exposed.

ND sucks

January 3 2006, 3:34 PM

As usual, the most cocky, arrogant, and overated university in the world loses again and thinks that they were in the game! Are you joking? The Bucks pushed the domers up and down the field and the score was much closer than the actual game. Frankly, they got man handeled by a far superior, strong, better talented, and beter coached team!

Sure they have a top rated offense, but they play Jr Varsity teams like Navy and Stanford.

Well, I think it would be stupid to say that the season wasn't successful, but think about it, Oregon deserved that bid. They were 10-1, ND was 9-2. Notre Dame's wins against bowl teams? BYU, Navy, and Michigan. Not very impressive. But if you look at Oregon's: Cal, Houston, Arizona State, and Fresno State. Tell me which one looks more impressive right about now.

Re: Ohio State 34 Notre Dame 20

alright, let's think about this, college football geniuses. 2005 preseason ncaa football rankings show that in notre dame's schedule they played 4 out of the 6 top 6 ranked teams in the country...tennessee, usc, michigan, ohio state. this does not include purdue and pittsburgh who were ranked in the top 25. the goal at the beginning of the year was to challenge the irish. IT IS NOT NOTRE DAMES FAULT THAT THESE TEAMS SUCKED. now you all can sit back and say hey, notre dame had a bad schedule, they don't play any ranked teams. the funniest is how when preseason came out, not one person said notre dame had an easy schedule. i dont remember anyone predicting michigan, tennessee, or purdue to suck this year, which is exactly why they were ranked to start the year. here's what well do next year. if the team ahead of time is bad, then we'll drop that game and schedule one with a ranked team so hot shots like youselves can sit back be satisfied for once. i don't recall any team in the country playing continuous ranked teams all damn year, so stop mentioning 'stanford and navy.' every team plays bad teams over the season. as for charlie weis having a bad recruiting future, i have an uncle on the board who knows weis and tells me that talented quarterbacks all over the country are contacting notre dame, begging weis to come see him, not to mention a quarterback in texas who has been called the lebron james of football and is a junior. here's another one. brady quinn is overrated and will go on to suck in the nfl. he threw for almost 4000 yards with 32 touchdowns and 7 INT and finished 4th in the heismen voting as a junior, yea sounds like a 'year off' to me. look exactly what charlie weis did for tom brady in new england. you all honestly don't think that nfl teams are aware of this. i've heard both bill parcells and bill bellichick say they are impressed with what weis has done with quinn and think quinn will be something special. as a junior, not a great start to your 'overrated' chants. there, i'm done.

Realistically, Michigan was a good win--and the ONLY good win. BYU was mediocre, so that's not a good win. Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Tennessee were bad this year, so none of these were good wins. And let's not forget the BAD LOSS to Michigan State. Taken as a whole this was a good season for the dome. They played the schedule they were dealt to the best of their ability and finished 9-3. They were not a top ten team, they were not a BCS team, and they were not a great team, but they were better than mediocre which would make them a good team.
