I do not believe the majority of people there were drinking but I was not there. I do agree, though that it is wrong. I went to Mount Carmel ( Catholic school) and for a few years the Fathers Club has tailgating an hour or so before the game and they would have a few beers (adults only in that area). However, Fr Markelz, the principal banned alcohol even in the parking lot of Gately stadium for the Fathers Club tailgating event. Gately isn't even their stadium. If a Carmel fan is seen with a beer or any other alcohol before a game he is not allowed in. Fr Markelz is always at the official Fathers Club tailgating. Also there is Chicago Security and police at the game enforcing it. I agree with banning it totally at the game especially, but it is hard to watch everyone that drinks before at other venues. It is your schools job to project a safe enviroment at school events.
So do not bunch all Catholic schools and their fans together because I believe most schools show great effort and enthusiasm in keeping their fans, parents, students and faculty safe during school events.
