I agree with you. Brother Rice did use that incident as an opportunity to educate their students. They even brought in Jesse Jackson, who did a wonderful job talking to them about what happened, how it was perceived and how they needed to be more sensitive to the issue.
I just wanted to respond to another writer who continues to call Brother Rice students racist after that one incident. I have seen a lot more serious incidents at (I'm a subsitute teacher) at schools (Mt. Carmel included) that haven't made the news. |
