Geneseo looks tough

by (no login)

Geneseo has a really stellar young team, their back field is really talented, especially with junior quarterback Kyle Glazier, they look like they could do some damage this year with awesome defense.

There's no question that Ottawa will be a formidable opponent during the course of their schedule. But do you remember what happened the last time someone said something like that to Geneseo?

Bloomington future

by jello 26 (no login)

Bloomington has the best group of secondary players in thre state in adrain arrington 6-1 180, Donald Brown 5-8 160, Brent Holtz 6-0 175, Justin Grant 5-10 165, Dustin Kelly 6-1 150. They all have tremendous potential and all are hard workers in the off season there are rumours going around that one will transfer to Normal West where he will be the starting corner and wide receiver.

Lets hold our breath until after week 9

by illinifan (no login)

Lets face it Bloomington is either down or other teams are up. They beat Danville 29-6 (Mattoon beat Danville 37-21) and they beat Normal 6-0 (Normal lost to Urbana 29-28 I believe), so i guess what I am saying is that Bloomingtom lost alot of key players from last year and this is gonna be a tuff year for all in the Big 12. Urbana, Normal West, Mattoon, and Normal are contenders this year. I myself see it coming down to Normal West, Mattoon, and Urbana in a 3 horse race. But Bloomington is the defending champ and I for one will not count them out. Anyway please respond and let me know who ur favorites are and why. Until then, cya.

Epitpaph of the 2003 Chicagoland H.S. Football Season

by Alvin Washington of ISNet (no login)

You know... it's two weeks after all the Wooden Towers have been handed out to the 8 state champions in this great Land of Lincoln, and still I can recall fond memories of a campaign to remember....

When we all said good-bye to one of the good guys of the Catholic League, Loyola coach John Hoerster...

When Morgan Park DAMN NEAR beat Mt. Carmel in Week 1, only to pimp-slap projected #1 Hubbard 47-0 in Week 8 to become the new top dog in the Public League...

When a young Hispanic running back named Sergio Ortiz made a winner out of Clemente coach Barbara Martin (yes, folks, there's a woman coaching varsity football in this state)...

When a budding rivalry in Lockport turned into a defining moment for a young program out of Frankfort named Lincoln-Way East....

When a young man from the Southwest Side made the entire Chicago Catholic League 'Wade' in the water while St. Rita freestyled into the state semifinals (with brother Rice, of course)....

When a new power on the North Side of Chicago emerged and it was not Lane Tech or Mather, but Steinmetz... yes, Steinmetz... academic dectahlon scandal notwithstanding, these kids can flat out play....

When a program 118 years old finally earned something its predecessors couldn't... a Wooden Shield (welcome to the party, Hyde Park)....

When young men from the ghetto made a legendary coach proud of what he built three decades ago on Vincennes Avenue...

and when the team that said good-bye to its long-time coach said hello to the new Soldier Field... and continued an unprecedented, undefeated dominance in the oldest post-season high school football game in America.

By the way, to that coach on the South Side who called me on the carpet about his 'All-American' not being on my Super 7/Public League All-Star Team, I've got three words for you: Morgan Park, Hinsdale South and Simeon - WHERE WAS YOUR 'ALL-AMERICAN' THEN? Enough said.

Yes, thse were the memories......

C-ya next year!

Can a CPS ever win a state title??

by imustdog (no login)

Want to engage in a little discussion on whether CPS teams can compete for the state championship. The Morgan Park Mustangs are making believers out of a lot of nay sayers. They had a great year and lost last week to DGN. Interesting enough the game was tied 7-7 at the half with the Mustangs all but shutting down DGN QB Edwards. The Mustangs All-State Middle Lineback (Byron Miles) had a virus and did not return for the second half. Much to their credit, DGN took full advantage of this and ran hard up the middle. MP will be returning ~13-16 of its starting players including the sophmore QB who set a state (publid) record for most passing yards against Batavia.

I think that MP will be the first CPS team to compete for a state championship in the coming years. They have shown that you cannot ignore the City Schools.

I can't wait until next year!

Good luck to the remaing teams in 7A.

I hate to say it, but maybe not...

by IHSFW.com (no login)

I hate to say it, but maybe not. I said two years ago that Hubbard would be in the State finals this year.

Why? Because they had some serious sophomore talent that I knew would step up in 2003. What I forgot to think about was the rest of the team.

The biggest problem that faces Chicago Public schools football programs is that lack of football. Only recently have some of these schools had a serious feeder program (AKA pee wee football) & Chicago is a basketball town (high school wise).

They lack the consitency of coaches is another. Not just head coaches but the asst who have been there for ever. look at the top programs in the state, these guys love their team, they love their town & they aren't going to try & get a head coaching job in the next school district over. Once you get a core coaching staff you need to address two other problems, additude & support.

I've watch far to many good CPL teams bow out in round one to crap suburban teams because they fall apart. The disipline is not there for a lot of these teams. I've seen more individuals on the field for what should be a team sport in the CPL this year than I've seen in the past 5 else where.

And last Support. Kids want attention, lets face it. So what are they going to do when they're getting their ass whupped in front of a roaring crowd of 50 people. Monday's practice "Coach. I quit" so now you're down to 21 kids & you're playing at some crap field at 11am on saturday morning. The parents don't support you, your school has no fans to support you & the CPL sure as hell isn't supporting you, because the locker room is wetter than the field and it's raining.

But still like you I wait for a CPL team to win the state title at any level.

Cheers,
Vincent Johnson

Let Morgan Park into Prep race

by mustangfan (no login)

Is it possible for MP to come back to play for the Public League Championship after having list to DGN in the Quarterfinals of the CLass 7A State Championship? They have beaten both Simeon and Hubbard this season and is by far the strongest public league team. It would be a shame for this team to go untitled given all that they have accomplished this year. They also would be the strongest team to bring the Prep title to the public league.

Letting the Mustangs play the winner of Simeon and Hubbard is not far fetched as this has been done before. A school lost in the state Q-finals and were allowed back into the Public League championship game. The team was Hubbard. Somehow, I don't think this will happen as NO ONE wants to play Morgan Park again. Especially Hubbard who lost 47-0!

I say let the Mustangs play!!

What do you think??

Br Rice is a good team but their fans are not to be desired!!

by (no login)

I am a Downers South Alum and I went to see Rice vs Downers South HS at BR. It was a hard played game and a physical one and although Rice won the game, their fans and alumni embarassed the name of the school, Catholic League and all of high school athletics.
You would think they would have learned their lesson when the school was scrutinized when they played Thornton in basketball a few years ago. Their students and parents called a player on Thornton by the discriminating name of "Buckwheat". They did this because his hair was a large afro. "Disgusting" is the word for that and it was highly racist. I can't believe African-Americans would ever choose that school to attend, it is obviously a leader in discrimination and bigotism along with an abuser of alcohol which was shown on the day of the game versus Downers two weeks ago. A majority of their fans were tailgating which is great but there was a overconsumption of alcohol not only witrh adults but also their students. I saw young kids drinking with older men and women and obviously they believe this is a correct way to show school spirit. Well I believe that once again their school has shown it's inability to make boys into adults and in a way their adults have also proven to be children. If you do not believe this story then read the Southtown Economist and ask yourself, "Why is the semifinal game being played at Lockport when it was scheduled to be at Rice?" The answer is that Rice is being penalized by the IHSA and it is being too lenient!!! I believe that since there was student drinking with adults present, the school should be stopped from playing in the playoffs and the season forfeited. Drinking does not belong in high school sports and that school has shown in the past and the present that it has a high alcohol problem with students, parents and faculty. Although this game was moved to Lockport, what is going to stop those morons from drinking again? Nothing is!!
So I implore the IHSA to have representatives at trhe game and in the student sections and taigating parties to watch for alcohol serving. If it is being served the game should be forfeited. Alcohol and smoking are not allowed in any IHSA activity and Br Rice should not be given a pass, period. I also would hope the Lockport police be on hand to pull over fans that have been seen drinking.
I believe in high school athletics and believe in fun but youths and alcohol is like oil and water and taigating is great but alcohol should be nowhere near a campus. So if you want to drink stay away from kids and I hope the IHSA takes care of this problem at Br Rice. It has become an epidemic. The newspapers have written about that schools parents hitting another schools athlete while he was taking a ball out of bounds in basketball, she should have been banned from sports altogether. The fans yelling Buckwheat at a young african american kid, that should have caused a full out school probe and suspensions and now the binge drinking on campus of teenagers, adults and faculty. Tis should be a high price to pay!!!!
By the way "WHERE IS THE FACULTY?" They are suposed to represent the school and show a safe and Christian way to behave a celebrate. That is the biggest disgrace of all of it! The adults even act more like children then the kids do.
When a player scores a touchdown, people implore him to act classy and like he has been there before and now Br Rice has a good football team for once and the fans cannot even behave like adults. So to Br Rice fans act like aults and like you have been there before. There is no room for drugs and alcohol in high school athletics!!

I saw the same at Hinsdales game!

by (no login)

I was at the game the next week in Hinsdale and Rice fans were relieving themselves on peoples lawns and drinking in the parking lot. They tried to conceal it but people are not stupid. I admit other schools have their problems but I have never seen such a complete disregard for laws and the spirit of high school athletics. There is a schhol spirit award from the IHSA at games and Brother Rice shows none. They need to be set an example of and penalized. I hope parents realize what they are doing sending their children there. Alcohol is fine in moderation and when precautions are taken to ensure safety, it does not belong in high school sports. The worst part was seeing high school students drinking in their cars out of flasks with adults watching and joining. I thought that was a Roman Catholic school with discipline. I saw none and believe a strong penalty need be imposed on that school, especially their faculty!

Do not bunch small crowd withy many!!

by (no login)

I do not believe the majority of people there were drinking but I was not there. I do agree, though that it is wrong. I went to Mount Carmel ( Catholic school) and for a few years the Fathers Club has tailgating an hour or so before the game and they would have a few beers (adults only in that area). However, Fr Markelz, the principal banned alcohol even in the parking lot of Gately stadium for the Fathers Club tailgating event. Gately isn't even their stadium. If a Carmel fan is seen with a beer or any other alcohol before a game he is not allowed in. Fr Markelz is always at the official Fathers Club tailgating. Also there is Chicago Security and police at the game enforcing it. I agree with banning it totally at the game especially, but it is hard to watch everyone that drinks before at other venues. It is your schools job to project a safe enviroment at school events.
So do not bunch all Catholic schools and their fans together because I believe most schools show great effort and enthusiasm in keeping their fans, parents, students and faculty safe during school events.

Taking that loss pretty hard, eh Downers ?

by THG (Login Stumpylake)

Keep your political correctness in Downwers Grove !
Are you sure you did'nt spot any jaywalkers at the game too !
If the kid looked like Buckwheat...then he looked like Buckwheat. There is nothing "racist" about that. If they were being racist, then they would have called all the black kids Buckwheat. They only yelled it at the one who looked like Buckwheat.
If Rice was at Leo with one fat kid, with a shaved head and their students yelled "Curly", would it be racist ? NO, and Rice would'nt accuse them of it.
As for smoking (tobacco)....big deal !
I went to Rice from 74-78, and NONE of my freinds ever tried drugs (if they had, they would'nt be my friends), which is more than I can say for the public school kids I saw.
Now, about the drinking...Any time you get four Irishmen together, you're bound to find a "fifth" ;)
GO CRUSADERS !!!

Figures!

by DownersJon (no login)

I noticed you fought dirty with others and I guess that chez guy was right.... you Rice guys are all the same!!! It has nothing to do with the game it has a lot to do with the lives of these kids. Alcohol should have nothing to do with high school sports and you should be ashamed of trying to defend it! It shows your mentality when you make excuses for drinking at a high school event and not all Irish people act as immature as you and your friends are. The faculty and fans should be reprimanded and I hope they are at the game this week to catch your school in their illegal activities. I do not care about the game as much as I care about the kids who are being corrupted by your kind and think binge drinking before a football game is the only way to have fun!!!
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR MIXING ALCOHOL WITH MINORS AND ESPECIALLY WHEN ADULTS ARE PRESENT AND ALLOWING IT! I REALLY ENJOYED THE FACT THAT MOST OF THE CHILDREN AND ADULTS GOT INTO AUTOMOBILES TO DRIVE AFTERWARD. I SUPPOSE YOU BELIEVE IN DRINKING AND DRIVING, TOO!!
My son died in an accident from driving under the influence. He was an innocent bystander trying to cross the street. You and your comments make me sick and I wondered why in your arguments your points against others were always incorrect and invalid. I hope you wake up everyday and realize how dumb you sound and realiuze that when a 16 year old drinks with adults and then gets into a car, it becomes a weapon. Those adults should be also held responsible. My son will never get to vent at the kid that hit him and that poor kid is in jail for 20 more years, however, his parents believed he could have a couple and still go out and drive to get some more ice for the party.
You are terrible for even defending this situation and I hope you are proud of yourself!!!
I hope Rice fans, faculty and parents are not all as pigheaded as you because if they are one of these days one of your own will suffer the same tragedy as my son! I hope it doesn't happen to you but with your beliefs about the Irish and allowing 4 to become a bigger party of 5.......it will!!

Sorry sir!!!

by Chez (no login)

Jon,
I am sorry and I believe completely in what you say because I too have lost a couple of friends and family to drunk driving accidents. It is totally cool that you are into stopping this terrible problem and I agree with your position and beliefs. That is why I am happy the way my alma mater's principal handles all sport activities at Mt Carmel.
The principal comes to all events an hour and a half early and watches the entrance to the stadium or court. He watches all tailgaters becuase there is an area at Gately where tailgating is only allowed ( in the front)and if there is any drinking after he gets there, you are not allowed in. Also there are many police around the park and if you are caught drinking you are reprimanded or ticketed! I appreciate Fr Markelz's stance on this issue and if he ever needs me I am there to help. However you cannot watch everyone all the time and to believe you can do this is wrong.
I think Br Rice should step up its stance on this issue and if not they should be penalized. I agree that there is NO ROOM for alcohol inb high school sports. Theere is plenty of time in one's life to drink, so for that 2 1/2 hours....keep sober, not just for your safety but the safety of children.
Everyone I am sure has over done it once and has made a mistake and I hope people realize the severity of this. I hope things are learned and taken carew of a little better for everyone's happiness!!
Remeber though both of you, getting personal gets really boring because fighting is exhausting after a while but cooperating and intelligent discussion is fun.....GOD I KNOW, I have been attacked here at this site more than anyone!!!
God Bless YOU and Good luck JON!

Chez

Brother Rice patrols its lot. They are not responsible for all the streets around school and other lots like Mother McCauleys'. They don't get any tax money like the public schools do to pay for all that.
To bad I can't send my tax money to the school of my "choice".

Nothing Racist about the Buckwheat comment?!?

by Mustangfan (no login)

Hold on a second THG. Help me understand how anyone who knows the era in which Buckwheat and the little rascal was produced, does not think that calling a kid Buckwheat was not a racist slap in the face of the poor student who had to endure it along with the other African Americans in attendance.

Allow me some air time as I just joined this group a few days ago. Here is a little history lesson for you all BR.

First, I love kids and the sports that they play. The mere fact that kids went to a game and called a player out of his name is WRONG. They did not critize his game or his skills rather they called him Buckwheat. What the hell does that have to do with basket ball? The name Buckwheat carries all the sterotypes associated with the actual character (coward, dumb, follower, pest, lazy, etc...). The era of the little rascal was after the minstrel shows based on the book by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Uncle Tom's Cabin. In the book Uncle Tom was relatively intelligent, although not educated, and an example of Christian morality, in one sense. On stage in the minstrel show he became the shuffling toady. He became the sniveling black man who was really a coward and was ignorant and somewhat comical in his connection to the slave masters. Any resemblance between uncle Tom and Buckwheat's character is not by chance my friend. It is by design. The design was to continue to de-humanize an entire race of people by feeding them images of themselves that made them feel less than human. I fully understand why my mother kept me from watching that crap. So, Buckwheat's image came totally from minstrelsy, and if we could go down the line and point out other ways in which those images pervaded the society at that time, those were the images, that was the sense of what black people were like. Therefore, when the kids called the guy Buckwheat please don't think for one second that it was not RACIST! IT WAS RACIST! They might as well have called him lazy, shiftless, coward, dumb, Coon, stupid, and many other adjectives that I care not the write. I hope this point is clear. Now, it could be that the kids who called him Buckwheat do not know the history in which case I would blame not only them but the Educational Institution who claims to be educating them! I.E. BR!

Now, I'd like to address the Curly comment and how it would not be consider racist for a Leo kid to call a BR kid Curly. You know, you are correct in that it would not be racist but you don't know why? The reason it would not be racist is not because the kid actually looks like Curly as you maintain. It would not be racist because the reference to Curly comes in the context of the Three Stooges. Now granted they were all crazy, but there was a balance in the show where you had at least one leader (Moe) and all the characters were white. In the little rascals, the Buckwheat character was all there was with repsect to Blacks. So, you did not have a balance to offset the baffon image that he protrayed. You could not see a black who had some sense on the show. All you saw was the sterotype. Why? Because that all they wanted you to see. The did not want you to think for one second that blacks could do anything productive.

I could go on but I need to close down now. I hope you feel me on this and more importantly I hope that you will not give the kids at BR an excuse to a call anyone out of their name whether it is racist or not. The kids were wrong and it was racist. Now that's the fact. I would have respected BR much more if they accepted it as such and worked on educating the students as to why African Americans took offense to the comment. Maybe this can start with you. It's never to late. I'm sure you have shared the views in your last mail to some of your friends. I ask now that you rethink them and open the dialoge with your friends again based on some input from a African American (me)who takes offense to anyone calling a black person Buckwheat.

Lastly, less you think that I'm smart please take a look at the following PBS website on Blackface Minstrelsy

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/foster/sfeature/sf_minstrelsy.html

Thanks for reading and please excuse my type-o's and spelling errors (I'll do the same for you).

Some good points...

by THG (Login Stumpylake)

but I don't think the kids thought that far into it. I think they were just comparing looks. Like I said, they only called one of them Buckwheat. I think, it was just rowdy heckeling.

They wer just being stupid, not racist

by football fan (no login)

Excuse me Mustang fan, but teammates of the kid who was being called Buckwheat were the first ones to call him buckwheat. They called him that all season long. When the Brother Rice fans heard the nickname, they called him that too. They were just being idiots, not racists.

I'm not condoning what they did I just don't think some kids at a high school acting like idiots at a game should be labeled racists. Especially when they wer calling the kid a nickname given to him by his own teammates. And by the way, I am a little older than the kids who were at that game and I didn't grow up watching the little rascals and either did those kids (on either team) I doubt the brother rice kids of the opposing team (who came up with the nickname) were fully aware of the racial connotations.

Let's educate before putting it off as stupid

by mustangfan (no login)

TGN, Football fan,

Thanks for responding and I will agree that the kids had no idea that what they were doing could be considered racist. However, that does not excuse it as not being racist. What it does do is gives us as adults an opportunity to educate them.

Now football fan, do you really believe that just because teammates call one of there own a particular nickname that it justifies others outside of the team to do the same? If you do believe this, then please be very careful as it could lead to some major problems.

Try this for instance, while hanging around my nephew and some of his friends, I noticed that some of them used a certain racial slur when talking about some of their other friends. Now it is important to the story that I let you know that all these kids were African American and the slur that they used was the infamous "N" word. I let this behavior go on for a few days before I decided it was time to crush it like bug. So, I asked them if it was okay for a non-African American to call refer to them by the "N" word? They all said no in a very forceful tone. So, I then asked them why then do they refer to themselves with that word. They gave the same BS, cop out answer that the rappers give. Something to the effect of being terms of endearment. Basically, something they heard on MTV or BET from a rapper. They all said that it was okay for US to use it with one another but not okay for them to use it. They pointed out that Eminem has never and will never use that word in a rap song because he know that it would be disrespectful. Actually that's my translation as they said the black rappers would kick his butt. So, I asked them if they understood the origin of the word and of course, like the kids (teammates and others) using the Buckwheat word they had no clue of the real meaning other than it was bad. It seems that the folks at the game probably did not know the meaning of being called Buckwheat beyond having someone look like Buckwheat. Granted, the kids using the Buckwheat term probably did not even know that it could be deemed offensive. After I was done telling them how the word was used to make us lower than cattle they became very still faced. We talked (actually I talked) in detail and ended with me saying that they should never use that word when talking about themselves. I have heard on several occasions that a couple of the kids stopped themselves mid sentence and chose not to use the word while in conversations with friends.

So, how does all this relate to the Buckwheat incident? If what happened is like you said football fan and I believe it was as I was not at the game, then some very important lessons should have been had at both schools after the game. At BR folks should not have concerned themselves with the fact that their kids were being call racist. Rather they should have concerned themselves with why their kids were being called racist and seek to understand they why. At the other school, they should have been educated on the character Buckwheat to fully understand what the character represents. I would bet that once they understood it, the kid with the nickname would not want to have that particular name as a nickname. He would not let his teammates nor anyone else for that matter call him that name.

As older folks it is our responsibility to teach these kids. Many of them will not go on to play pro sports and will wind up a like many of us; hard working, caring, loving individuals in this thing called life. As such, we should take every opportunity to educate them on life and not try to buffer on defend them when they have done wrong. We should not give them excuses for their actions when the actions were deemed to be insulting. We should not supply them with the “They called him that first.” excuse over the “just because someone else does it does not make it right for you to do it” teaching. My attitude with the kids I’m involved with is EDUCATE first and PLAY BALL second. I tell them that how you respect and demand respect on the field is how you will do it in life. Some coaches don’t care for me but the kids go on in life to appreciate me.

To me it’s all about the kids learning, playing, and becoming respectful contributors to this society. Isn’t that what its all about? Its okay to say that we missed an opportunity to educate as I believe both schools missed an opportunity to educate based on how football fan said the whole thing went down. We just don't want to miss the next one.

I really appreciate you all sharing your view as these topic are important and won’t go away. We just need to be willing to communicate on them. Thanks TGN and football fan.

NOW, FORGET MONDAY NIGHT AS ITS FRIDAY! ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

I agree with you. Brother Rice did use that incident as an opportunity to educate their students. They even brought in Jesse Jackson, who did a wonderful job talking to them about what happened, how it was perceived and how they needed to be more sensitive to the issue.

I just wanted to respond to another writer who continues to call Brother Rice students racist after that one incident. I have seen a lot more serious incidents at (I'm a subsitute teacher) at schools (Mt. Carmel included) that haven't made the news.

Thanks for sharing the end results

by mustangfan (no login)

Football fan,

Thanks for sharing what happend during the aftermath of the incident. I did not know that. It is comforting to know that BR stepped up to address the issue. Hopefully, the students understand better how there actions could have been viewed as racist.

Believe me when I tell you that I believe you in that there are more serious incidents at many of the schools. I have two cousins that have transferred due to serious racial incidents from two different schools. Suffice to say that these issues are present and impact the lives of our kids. So, we need to stay viglent and tackle them like an All-American linebacker whenever they rear there ugly head. Everyone owns this problem. Thanks again for the conversation.

Do not make statements about things that are not known for sure!

by (no login)

Football Fan:
I am sure Carmel has had race issues and in the 60's they were very bad. However, do not make a negative statement about a school unless it has been publicized. Otherwise it is just hearsay and not valid. I am not here to cause an argument but why would someone make a comment like that unless they were there. The only reason to do so is to put down another school when there is no cause. Just because you were a sub does not mean you have seen racial disturbances that were far worse than were at that basketball game. If they were far worse than they would have been in the paper. So all I ask is when there is a subject at the helm, do not make a comment about another school to take the heat off of them. I have a lot of respect for teachers and you are one, so I respect you, but I do not think that Carmel should be discussed about this because there are not any documented and publicized cases of this sort of harassment there and if there were I would be angry as hell about it and would not tolerate it. I just believe for someone to make a comment like that, there should be proof and it should be documented, not just hearsay because that could injure a school's reputation and it is not fair. In no way was I sayimg Carmel is better than Rice at its effort in maintaining order at school functions, I was just offering up an opinion of what the principal does to combat problems. Race had no discussion in my message and I do not think MC should have been brought into it because as far as I know for the last 15 years there has been no such problem. I know this because I am an active alum and all my brothers have been attending the school along with my uncles since 1965. There has been a family member of mine at Mount Carmel for the last 36 years. I just do not like unfounded comments but if it is a truth that has happened then note it so at l;east people can debate it, rather than making a possible unfounded rumor. Once again NO DISRESPECT, because teachers deserve the world as far as I am concerned. I had a few that saved my life from hell, so I appreciate them!!!

Thank You
Chez

Newsflash

by Paul (no login)

I am freshmen at Brother Rice High School and you people are a perfect example of people who stretch the truth. In case you did not know those fans were not drinking in the Rice parking lot, they were drinking in the Mother Mcauley parking lot which is not Rice's property or problem. You also have never been to St. Rita or any other school on the South Side of Chicago, they all do it. If you actually looked in the Rice parking lot there isn't even anybody tailgating in there because there not allowed to. And so what if we like to have fun at the basketball games, and we do that by participating in the Crusader Crazies. Stop crapin your pants over one little remark, we do it to ever school we play in every game. We never try to delibritley hurt someone's feelings we try to shake them so we have an advantage but when the game's over that stops and if we do say something we should not have there is a faculty member (Coach Lyons) there to tell us to stop. My cousin Mike is the leader of the chants at these basketball games and when he graduates it will be passed on to me and I will do the same thing. So i say to all of you "Sit down, Shut up" because Brother Rice High School truly teaches you to act manfully in Christ Jesus. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Are fans should be desired because we are the most loyal fans in the state f Illinois.
