Luther South's home games

by (no login)

Waterford Lady of the Lakes plays a game @ Luther South next Saturday. Does Luther South have a stadium at its school, or does it use one of Chicago's city park stadiums?

I'm a junkie, by the way--last November, on the weekend of Round 2 (I think that was the first weekend of November), I drove from Lansing, MI down to Portage to sit out on a frigid windy day to see Adrian beat the Broncos 20-14 in the afternoon--and then, very crazily, cruised (with a nervous breakdown thrown in there for good measure, owing to my being outside for too long and then trying to drive while fatigued on the Tri-State Tollway--too many lights) over and up to Zion Benton to see the last 3 quarters of that game.

Luther South has their own field at 87th and Kedzie, just north of Evergreen Park. Entry is from the Kedzie side of the school.

Quite a few teams don't

by (no login)

There are more than a few Chicago schools that don't actually have their own fields. And I'm not just referring to the public ones either. Also, while some teams might have a home field they choose to play their games at another field with a larger capcity.

Chicago Mt Carmel plays at Gately along with a slew of the Chicago public teams.

Gurnee (Warren) plays at the freshman sophomore campus.

Joliet Catholic has a small on campus field for freshman games, but rents the city's municiple stadium which has a 10,000 plus capcity (which it needs some times) for it's home games.

And for years Burbank (St. Laurence) played it's home games at it's opponents field.

What games are you looking forward to? Post Here.

by (no login)

The 2003 schedules are out.

And each week you can bet, will have a great match up from north to south.

Post what you think will be a good game and why. Then maybe we'll travel to cover that game.

You can be as tall as you want and as fast as you say you are but noone will believe you until you do something!!! You have done nothing and will go nowhere because your mouth is too big!!!! You cannot throw 90 yards because noone can!!! Grow up and maybe someone will like you because alot of people hate you right now!!! Remember you are not good if your team is not and your team sucks!!! So you do too and in football it is a team sport and there is no I in team and if you think so you are stupid, too!!!

Biggest surprise games of the season?

by (no login)

Joliet Catholic lost to Providence 10 to 2 early in the season then suffers an embarissing 41-0 loss in the 5A quarterfinals. While some will say they seen a second Providence victory over Joliet Catholic, none had predicted a running clock.

Post some of the biggest surprise games so far this season below. Whether it was a close game from an 1-8 team or a blow out by an evenly matched team. Respond on what you thought was a surprise game of the season.

Quadrants

by (no login)

SO FAR I see no problem with the quadrants. The only thing I see a problem with quadrant wise, would be all the Chicagoland schools. Could you imagine Mt. Carmel and JCA in round 1 or BG vs Mt. P?
For the team I cheer for, the Rock Island Rocks, it has proved no different for us. While we will be playing Rockford Boylan this weekend for the 2nd time in three years, we definitly do not have the easy road to the title. Freeport who is 8-1 is #1 in our quadrant and is a very tough team. I still think they should of sent Galesburg our way, and Woodstock to Chicago considering it is the closest school to Chicagoland in our Quadrant.

Would-be Playoff Brackets

by (no login)

Alright, I'm half-way done with all 8 classes (I've got 8-5 done). Go to IHSFW.com and click on the story about would-be playoffs, then scroll down & select a class.

I've seeded each class in the exact way the IHSA would have if it was following the structure they did in the previous years.

Have fun with the could have been matchups.
I'd like to see what every one would put down for their semi final picks.

Cheers,
Vincent

Aledo props here.

by (no login)

I have no problem giving the Green Dragons props. With the return of QB Brett Lee & running back Chris Dixon the Aledo offense is right on track and looking pretty tough. They have yet to score under 40 points.

The defense brought back Matt Randall, Dixon & JJ Dunn and are also having very solid outings this season.

I will say that the Dragons may be fairly untested come the playoffs as their only real chanlleges this season will be from Orion (already beat) & Sherrad (plays this week). I'm sure Aledo has scheduling problems like other schools with good programs, but it would have been nice to see them matched up against a Tolono (Unity), Stillman Valley, Spring Valley (Hall), Alton (Marquette), or evan a team like Normal (University), Quincy (Notre Dame). All of which have games versus teams in the Olympic conference.

As far as coverage goes, Aledo just happens to be a little off the map from any of the correspondents we have.

Aledo is located not too far outside of the Quad Cities ad their scores can be found on www.wqad.com for sure and you could also try www.kwqc.com, and www.qconline.com. The first two are Quad City news stations and qconline is sponsored by the RI Argus, Moline Dispatch, and the Leader.

Rock Island

by Anonymous (no login)

Until Moline can beat Rock Island they do nothing for me. RI has won the game the last six years, and I doubt this year will be any different. The only thing Moline has going for them is their offensive line. It is to bad the game is at Browning, I might have to suffer a back ache standing because of the lack of seating. Lets hope this year the lights actually work. ROLL ROCKS ROLL!

This goes out to any team in the Midwest that would like to play against the mighty Rock Island Rocks. If we don't find a ninth game, we will be penalized when the playoffs come around. As of 9/6/02, we do not have a ninth game and are currently seeking one.

I noticed that the IHSA has moline listed in the 9th week. Is that happening. Moline already has a game that week against Ottawa. Or are they doing you a favor and playing two games? Would that be allowed?

That's too bad. Had a great post going on the other board about surprise / bust teams for the year.

And hey... How come you don't have Hampshire High School linked off your schools page? I had to go through the conference link to find it...

I'll try to dig up some info for you on them. They have 3 state titles (1A- 1976, 1979, 1995) and a runner up (1A- 1978). Give me some time and I'll try to get conference championships and stuff, too.
