I have never fished for steelies in the lake, but want to this year. I dock @ west harbor so I can only run east to about Vermillion. I know people catch them just off of vermillion, but when are they in there? I have heard they are a blast to catch and want to get in on the fun.

I caught steelies 14 miles straight north of Lorain last Saturday.....so it's not too late maybe. It was the 41/11 line. This weekend, I'll probably start at the 43/9-10; and if I get blanked there, I'll work the 00 east/west line. Nevertheless, that is a long boat ride from Vermillion.
As far as the steelies go in the area it is late now, there are a few being taken, but very few. in October they will be back in this area until next spring. good luck and good fishin.
