Fishing in October

I would like to make a fall walleye trip some time in October. It can be any time. I'm retired and have my own boat. Need to look for a place to stay and where to put in my boat. It would be nice to know if the walleye are biting. I live west of Chicago about 45 miles so it's about a 6 hour drive with the boat. I would stay for any where between 3 days and week depending on the fishing. Also, how is the small mouth bass fishing this time of year?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Since you said any help... for what's it's worth the publically known bite for big fish is Fairport and points east prior to the recent blow.

The 1st link has current reports and hotel info:

http://wbsa.us/denied/

http://www.walleye.com/

http://www.walleyecentral.com/board/index.shtml

You can also call Den's shop and someone will fix you up with places to stay and current info. Prob wouldn't hurt to let them know how big of rig and how far you'll run. If you poke around or ask on the second two sites you should be able to get some info on places to stay out east. Steelhead?

Good Luck
