Hey guys. I've had my HID kit with Philips 4100K bulbs and ballasts for maybe around 3 months now. Sometimes when I turn the lights on, one of them kinda turns red for half a second, then turns blue (like normal warm-up), then white after warm up. It's not hot restiking, it's just normal use. Could this be not enough voltage going to the ballast? Or is this normal sometimes? It doesn't happen all the time, just occasionally. I have a home-made shield for the HID, but I've made sure that I keep 5mm away from the 90 degree bend of the return wire.

Not yet. I'm planning on making (or buying if I can ever find one) a wiring harness as soon as I buy some driving lights for the truck. I want to wire the highbeam switch to the aux driving lights. I just want to do everything at once which is why I haven't bought the harness yet. I live in Canada and I haven't been able to find a wiring harness anywhere....will I just have to make one myself with the info on this FAQ? Or do you guys know a good one to get?

Lack of power to the ballasts may be your problem. Repeated startup power demands on your stock headlight wiring has increased resistance in the headlight switching, wiring, and connections to the point that not enough current now passes to the ballasts for HID ignition.
A wiring harness should not be that big a deal; just buy a driving light installation "kit" harness from any auto parts store and splice-solder-shrinkwrap 9006 connectors (from the same store) to the ends of the harness that would normally connect to the driving lights. In other words, think of your HIDs as driving lights or fog lights, and bypass the stock headlight wiring, which was not designed for triggering HIDs.
