Hey guys. I'm new to the board and have just completed an HID retrofit project on my 95 Lexus ES300. I used a set of E46 2001 PRojectors, PIAA ballasts, OSRAM 4100K bulbs and of course a relay system/harness.
I'd like to post my write up on the retrofit section of the site and show pics of the process of how properly installing/retro installing HID is done.

In the meanwhile, here's a link to my work:

as well as:

Send writeup and pics to heranker@yahoo.ca, and I will post it under http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/car-with-oem-hid-projectors.htm

Please create it as an html mail with pictures placed relative to text, so that I don't have to guess where they go.

Hey, cool car!

A question: What is the mod that you did to your projector cutoff shields to get a wider purple band? Did you bend them in toward the reflector?

cuttoff colors

For the colors, I actually used a purple Fanta Soda can and cut the cuttoff edge tracing the original 3 series one and then mounted the new edge over the older one about 1 mm higher.

1.
2.

It made a world of difference. Originally, the 3 series units had very little color when I tested them on the wall. This drove me to do this mod and now my car looks like 5 series or the new Mercedes when approaching in the opposite direction at night. Pretty clever huh?
