Hi, I just got a set of 90mm Hella Bi-Xenon Projectors and I'm going to retro fit them into a certain set of headlamp. I'm wondering if I purchase the "ring" around the projector from anywhere? I'm especially looking for the newer e46 projector ring (that has "XENON" engrave into it). Any help would be great! Thanks!

I have a set of the E46 rings that say XENON, but the opening in them is too small for Hella projectors. I base that they are too small on the set of X5 projectors I have here also.. I stuck the X5 projector behind the E46 ring, and it's very noticable that the lens on the Hella is too big for the E46/Bosch ring. I've also got the rings that came in the X5 lights, but they are physically the same piece of material as the high beam reflector.. so you'd have to cut them up and it may be hard to get a clean looking install if everything will be visible.

Damn... that's sad news for me... Thanks for the info and feedback. Anyone know where i can get a ring to fit the 90mm hella projectors?

Mike is quite right about the older 3-series shield being smaller in diameter (the shield has roughly only 60mm diameter in opening).

But on the new BMW 3-series, which are equipped with bi-xenon headlight, I believe they do have larger diameter shields.

The shields fit tight around the lens, and has special groves for alignment on both the projector and shield.

I got a set from local repair shop (high end, specializes in BMW collision repair).

The Hella 90mm is 90mm diameter if you are using the front shell. All OEM projector units do not have any similar front shell, so diameter is less, 60-75mm.
