Do you guys know of any material that can be used to mold? I'm trying to custom make a shroud for my projectors since I couldn't find anything at home depot that would suit my needs. Would lexan work? Also, can lexan be chromed? Any other thin plastics that would work? Thanks!

I went to a plastic store (Plastic World here in Toronto) and asked the same quation. I was just curios, and he showed me quite a few binders from possible suppliers. You more or less have to determine first your factors: operating temperature range, maximum heat exapansion, color, degree of UV protectant, what adehieseive you want to use, type of molding realease, etc, etc. Prices and minimum quantities varies alot.
(As far as I remmeber, Lexan sheets is heat injection molded, so don't be disappointed if that formula is not avail, but do ask for it)
Chroming is usually for metals only.. I know they can also do a chrome looking finish on fiberglass, but I don't know for sure about lexan. One thing you can try to use at home for chrome lexan are some specialty R/C car paints. There are two that I know of that look especially good, one being Alclad II chome and the other being Spaztix Mirror Chrome. As far as making lexan look like chrome, I've never seen anything closer then mirror chrome. It's worth checking into if you can find a way to form lexan to the shape that you want.
