I ordered a kit from Autolamps. They sent the tracking number with an apology that they had a breakdown between UPS and them and they were personally sending me the tracking number.. Fine, good service I thought. The tracking number showed delivery was rescheduled for today May 22 for the 2nd time. When I got home at 6 PM there was a note from UPS that the delivery had been attempted. Unusual since I get a lot of photo stuff, even tires, delivered by UPS and the driver knows to put the items behind the house. Well there is a COD charge of $23.90!!! Can you believe it in this day and age a COD!!! AND if its not picked up or delivered by the last dropoff attempt, its sent back to the sender!! AND no cash or personal check accepted, only bank draft, money order, etc. Now if I was at home when it came how in the Queen's Navy was I supposed to know to have a bank draft!! I have to arrange to pick it up (waiting for the call now from UPS) tonight as I ain't gonna sit around tomorrow for it to be delivered! I dont mind the charge, but its the lack of communication upfront, or just add the charge with the amount paid by credit card for the item! BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES YIELD BAD CUSTOMER FEELINGS!!! Already I have a bad taste in my mouth. (if the high beam fails to live up to the old design performance I will really be pissed!) Nick and autolamps or hid-online or whoever; ADD THE SHIPPING CHARGE UP FRONT AND AVOID THE HASSLE ON THE CUSTOMERS END!!!! Everyone who mail/email orders things expects to pay shipping charges, its no big deal. OR dont charge shipping.. I bought tires last week from an online outfit and NO SHIPPING CHARGES!! If there was it was built into the price. WHAT A PAIN!!! Now I have to go to get a money order when it could have been charged up front.
All the knowledge about a product in the world wont help you sell it if your (customer) services are bad!
"BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE CHECKBOOK HOLDER!!"
Ron, Autolamps used to use Europe shipping which is transfer to USPS to make the delivery here in U.S. When I had my kit delivered, I had custom charges. I guess UPS charges are the custom charges.
Holy crap man when did u order urs i ordered mines on the 15th..... Man has this happened to everyone, because if there gonna list cod then they need to speak up im nervous about my cash in limbo here.. I just want my product already or my hard earned cash back.... crazy stuff goin on.....
I know its not fun to experience u have had, but here is some facts to know. (At least according to my memory):
If autolamps paid all shipping, all you can blame them for is for not having this text on their site:
"Brokerage, duty and taxes are extra and will be a case between receiver and his/hers local shipping company."
This means that sender are not able to pay any of these fees in advance, because they are calculated by the receivers shipping company and/or custom officials.
International shipping can be a pain for anyone who don't know excactly how it works. One way of getting around the annoying COD is to create an account with local shipping company in advance. For a regular importers, this is normal practise.
Something has changed....
I ordered from autolamps-online about two years ago; I authorized the price shown, and the next day received an e-mail stating the order had been shipped. 5 days later, I received the package, with no problems (it was in my mailbox).
The charge was from UPS Brokerage! And they would have accepted a personal check. I found this out after I bought a money order. The whole thing took about 1 hour with travel time. THats one hour that I could have been working on the kit!! while $23 is not a real big deal, it would have been nice to know some type of charge would be assessed beforehand!!
Question guys, I read somewhere here NOT to ground to the nagative terminal but to the car body. Verification...
To the gentleman that's been waiting for a week, I hope your kit comes soon. I dont doubt the quality of the kit, but all information re: $$$ should be forthright and upfront!!

The answer is, "It depends."
If you have a ground-switched wiring scheme (Toyota & others), you could setup a feedback loop to the relays using the battery negative post as a ground, so using your high beams (even FTP) could trigger your lows to come on; this may be desirable, maybe not. With positive switching of high/low, a battery ground is fine. Grounding to the body sheet metal generally will work, but a ground to the block or frame is more certain, since most cars have "frame isolators" built in to the design.
any idea on how long its gonna take for me to get it then man still waiting prolly gonna be no luck for this week maybe next week i guess... I really dont doubt the quality at all from what i have heard and read so im just anxious to be able to see the road again like i used to thats all....

If you're not getting high beam triggering, try swapping factory leads to the relay, since a Nissan most likely has ground-switched headlights. Or you can look for a replaceable diode somewhere in the harness/relay connectors and try reversing it.
