what projector uses D1S bulbs?

I know valeo projector use them, but I cannot find a reliable source. I am looking to use a significant amount of them for an aftermarket application, where space is a premimum (the cable & connector come out the bottom rather than the back). I might have a reliable source for the bulb & ballast, but I am not %100.

If there are additional projectors that use them please let me know.

This has been brought up before. Look at the following thread, or do a search on D1s.

As far as I know it has the same base as D2 series except with the built-in ignitor, so any hid projector would do.

There is 3-4 of them on http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/car-oem-hid.htm that uses D1S but I am not shure how much that will help you. Osram is dieing to sell HID equipment (what cars have them OEM?? ... not many), so maybe Osram can give you a good deal on D1S. It looks like a sleek looking unit to me. Base is identical to D2S, the important part is that the bulb locking mechanism still works.

got D1S projectors?

June 5 2003, 8:57 AM

Thanks for the response.

The only other one I can see is a Bosch projector (and they look huge), does anone have more info (dims, price, purchase source)? Ive tried 5 search engines and cannot get any good info

I tried Osram-Valeo setup, I got 1 set, but was told they did not want to sell anymore to the public, only OEM (new viper). They were cautious because of the latest NHTSA fine on APC for their headlights. That brings up another good point, I will post another topic
but via NHTSA, any light source other than OEM is non compliant?

Cadillac Seville STS uses D1S

June 6 2003, 8:16 AM

The Cadillac Seville STS uses the D1S lamp in its projector application. Philips makes the ballast igniter and lamp for the Caddy. I believe the Guide Corporation makes the projectors, but I don't know anything about them. Hope this helps.
