This is "supposed" to be a BMW X5 projector. First...are all X5's equipped with HID? Second, is there anything physically wrong with this projector besides the cracked cover on the back? I'm not too familiar with BMW projectors so, help me out . Is this even an X5 projector?

Not all X5s come with HIDs. You have a choice of halogen reflector lights or HID projector lights. it's hard to say if that one belongs to a X5 unless you take that out of the housing, it's definitely BMW type, but again, almost all BMWs have similar style headlights, sort of a trademark.

Well, do all BMW's use Hella 90mm projectors, either halogen or HID?

The beam "bender" stretching from the middle of the front lens towards the left side makes it look like the first projector units used on BMW in early 90s.

Hella 90mm units have never been used on any serial production car BMW.

Earlier projector units back to the early/mid 90s were not as deep and not as wide, so a large projector unit from an X5 or similar will be very tight or too big.

So I shouldn't even consider buying this huh? it's worthless?

DJ, the projector shown in Piou's reply is the correct X5 HID projector. The pic you've shown at the top does not belong to an X5. Yes, as Herman says it looks similar to early 90's halogen projectors but it doesn't even look like my 1991 Hella H1 projectors. Anyway the pic in Piou's reply represents the X5's
