i have a small sheet of arboron aka arborite material at home. i am wonderinging if it will be safe to use as the mounting material for my hella 90s using the d2s bulbs (lows) and the h9 bulbs (highs)? the data sheet says its good for up to 95C. i am more concern with running the lamps and sitting in rush hour traffic on a hot summer day/night...

I'd say u are in a questionable temp zone there. Considering it is alot of hours going into a project, use polycarbonate (lexan), which holds up to 120C. Which will allow you to use a slight overwatt H9 bulb (if it ever arrives on the marked).

I checked http://www.tayloredindustries.com/electricalproducts/arboron.htm
and it shows 0.5 - 0.9% water absorbtion, which did not look good to me. The applications listed for this material is much drier than headlamp bracket. I assume you would like to drive your car in rain? So that could be a big question mark.

thanks Herman for the advice. i wasn't 100% sure about using it. although it is quite a tuff material and very twist resistant (i have a 5" x 21" sheet, and i can't even twist it a little bit). i wasn't too sure about the other specifications.

Isn't that the material tuners use to isolate intake manifold from a hot engine head? If that is the case, it should not be very hard to sell on ebay or car specific forums, so that you can buy some lexan...

local plastic shop in GTA is mentioned on http://faq.auto.light.tripod.com/tools-materials.htm
If anyone else has recommended plastic shops in other cities, I'll be happy to list them too.
