Just curious...
How do you know it's stolen?

I mean, I guess if you came across a "used" set of Acura HID's...or the entire headlight (without any obvious front-end damage stuff) then you would wonder where it came from.

But how can you really tell if it's "hot"?

I see all these projectors and stuff on ebay.com ...
How can you know if these things aren't hot either?

Just wondering...

A lot of the headlights sold on eBay come from body shops and salvage yards, with very few actually being new. There is really no way to tell if they are "hot" or not, unless the carmaker begins serializing them and registering them to a specific vehicle, same as the car's engine. I don't see this happening, but it could be done. Even if someone buys headlights brand-new, in the box, they still could have fallen off the back of a delivery truck (with some help).
