Are 9006 base the same as 9005 base?

The person i bought a kit from sold me a 9006 rebased HID bulb.

I had to send them back because of defect, he only has 9005 bases left, and he says that 9005 will screw into a 9006 housing with no problem

Is this true?
Will it keep a good beam pattern?

9005 base is intended for high beams, but base are almost identical except for one or two notches. The notches are used for locking. It is hard to dremel off notches on halogen bulbs. Rebased HID bulbs weighs more and MIGHT giver u a weaker locking funstion.

Thanks Herman for the info.

This is Dan, the one with the olds intrigue
I managed to get the relay in place and it works well.

The HID bulbs that were flickering , i pulled them out and checked, they had white coating all inside the arc bubble. The seller says this is "normal" but i dont think it is, but he is replacing the bulbs for me.

Every time i hit a bump, the HID flickers off and on real fast, so i figure ill get new bulbs, and if it still flickers, send back the ballasts for warranty.
