Check out the new swiveling projecotrs on the new 5 series. That wuodl be a very cool retrofit if anybody had a big enough headlight and could wire up some senors to your sterring or something. That is a very complex looking piece of equipment!

here is the link.

I'm afraid those projectors are out of league for retrofits. They are just too complex.....

Na, with that kind of attitude, it SURELY wouldn't be possible. Where there's a will, there's always gotta be a way.

As Henry Ford said, "If you think you can, or if you think you can't, you're right."

It can and will be done. It's just a question of who will get them first!!

Oh sure guys, just get a hold of those projectors (easy right?) and get a hold of the sensing equipment (even easier right?)that took hella years to develop and perfect, and you got yourselves new 5 series performing lights. What I meant was this is a megaproject, and very expensive. I'll bet it will be a long time before any such retro is made successfully.

I still think they are out of league.

I won't jump in here and say its easy. But we could lower the bar somewhat and make a manual system. Something that would be doable is to have knob on the dash and you can turn projectors manually from side to side. I can't imagine anything else than it has a stepper motor built in. Stepper motors has been around for many years. The closest you get in sizewise in similarity is remote controlled cars/boats/planes. In example, they use stepper motors to control the throttle position.
The stepper motor should come already mounted on this projector, so that is not a biggie. What we need is a driver. Here is an example of a driver that will as is or with slight modifiactions for less than $30:

A long time ago, people used to tell me that I couldn't put a fuel injected 5.0L engine into my 4 cylinder Mustang. So I went a step further, did that, but also made it have 400hp instead of stock 225 bhp, all with EFI. But now, the kids do this very thing everyday with Hondas and such. Maybe in the distant future, this swap with moving projectors will be standard issue with retrofitters just like the current bi-xenon swaps are now (which used to be 'new thing' back then)
