i've tried the Hella's catalog but couldn't find the modules itself. the taillight assembly in the pic is from vmaxx by the way. i just want the modules and not the trim around. similar concept as the Hella's 90mm projector units...

You may need to look in a replacement parts catalog at a Hella dealer. See if Susquehanna or Puma can find those for you. They both deal in Hella parts. They should have those types of catalogs?
that's what i thought. anywhere else to source some LED ring lights that will give the g35 coupe's rear taillamp look? i don't remember how many LED's are on the g35 coupe's taillamp brake/tail ring. i've looked at the luxeon ring LED's but the only ones that will fit my taillamp is the 6 LED version... too small a count of LED's. its gonna look odd. any other sources?
by the way, does the Hella's ring LED light up both in tail (dim) and brake (bright)? or does it function as tail only?

Herman, the flexible LEDs are not sufficient for "brake lighting" you will need something larger, like a 5mm LED which will emit light much brighter and further away.
as the previous reply said, the flexible led array would not light up sufficient for brake light function. i've looked into getting my hands on the g35's taillamp assy (us$160 bucks!) but its very hard to find... even on ebay. no luck...
might have to end up building my own led ring array.
i've looked at the grote ones before. but they are all full circular light pattern. i just want a ring of LED instead of the entire circle lighting up. if you happen to pass an infiniti g35 coupe, stay on his/her back and watch for the brakelight. its a ring formation. that's what i'm aiming for.
if all else fails, i'm gonna try to fabricate either the ring myself or try the bimmer's c-something-rather taillight (several rods running horizontally and lit by LEDs).
