Comes with dual PY21W turn light bulbs, 55W H7 corner lights, and Bi-Xenon. The inner section is DRL/city lights based on 5 Lumiled stars. In city light mode, the 5 LEDs will be dimmed, creating a "clouver" pattern. Note that there is no section in headlamp for high beam only:

My guess is that the LEDs are 1W Lumiled in white 5500K version. This is not really anything really cutting edge, Luxeon stars have been around for a year or so, but its cutting edge in the auto industry.

really only 1 watt? I would think they would use the new 5 watt ones. I just bought one and it is such a drastic improvement over the old one.

1W verison in heat depriciation mode gives around 18-20 lumens, totalling to 90 lumens.
5W version in heat depriciation mode gives around 95-100 lm each, totalling to almost 500lm. The question remains, what is the required lm for a DRL under ECE?

Luxeons also have 3W versions.. not sure if they exists in white?

Luxeon III are available in white (LXHL-LW3C). 65 Lumens @ 700mA and 80 Lumens @ 1000mA typical.

Herman,

This one should give you requred ECE DRL brightess at least on the minimum scale part:

Funny, thing is that Audi A8 does not have a designated halogen hi-beam unit.

Requirements under ECE for DRL seems to be minimum 37.8lm, give out 400 - 800 candela in the beam, and area has to be larger than 65mmx65mm. Which means that it doesnt take more that 5 x 1W luxeon emitters driven below the max current (350mA) to do the trick. Due to the "spare" lm, it is probably a wide beam (55-70 degrees), which is created by small reflector "buckets" in the headlamp. Beam opening from the 1W luxeons are like 90 degrees or so.
