Mercedes E class bi-xenon wiring ?

Hi everyone
I'm pretty new here, and i'd like to have some opinions before starting my project.
A friend offered me a pair of 2003 European market Mercedes E class headlights + an extra presumed broken projector to play with. These babies have all the ballasts and stuff mounted on the headlight itself, and i'd like to know what is what before wiring anything-the only thing that i'm sure for the moment is that on each headlight i have two electronic modules and that everything is Hella-made.
I'll take just the projectors and try to install them in the headlights of my 1992 Honda Prelude.
I've never installed xenon projectors before. For the time being, my questions are the following:

- Inside the projector itself there's a metal shield that is moved by a solenoid. Am i supposing right that this is a bi-xenon projector and that the solenoid is switching the beam between low & high ?

- Have anybody a wiring diagram of the INSIDE of the headlight ? Have anybody on the forum played with that before ?
As the ballasts are mounted on the headlights, all the wiring is routed inside the headlamp. I'm trying to find a wiring diagram of that, as i guess i won't need at least half of the wiring inside the headlight assy (there will be wires for the extra non xenon projector, the small one, for turn signals, for the levelling motor etc.

I'll post pics of a disasembled headlght in a few days, i just can't do it right now.
Thanx

You are correct to assume it is a Bi-Xenon type if it has a moveable shield connected to a solenoid.
I am not a Prelude owner myself, but to me, the biggest challange lies in making them look cosmetically nice, not the wiring.
I doubt u will find a wiring diagram, they are different on every model/brand. If you exclude wiring for washer system and auto levelling (mandatory for E-code headlamps), then there really is not much left, and how to wire that up is described in the faq.

hope this helps

Thanx a lot
You're right about the cosmetical stuff - i have an extra pair of headlights to play with, the problem is that the oem prelude headlights are so nice anyway that any change to them would be a step backwards.
But i don't want to install just the xenon bulbs (i don't know much about bulbs and i even don't know what kind of bulbs i have on my lude now (i'm so busy i never have the time to open the hood and i have it since a couple of months only), i just know that the headlights are reflector type and that i can't see the bulb as there's a big metal shield in front of it. Well, in short, oem 1992-96 Prelude headlights.
The main reason i'm asking about the wiring is that i'm concerned if the electronic modules i have on the benz headlights are just "regular" ballast & igniter or whatever, or if they receive some computer/digital signal. Because all is multiplexed in the new E class and if the module waits to receive a digital signal or something, then i'm stuck.
Anyway, i'll dismantle the headlights this weekend and post some pics. I also managed to get a complete wiring diagram but it's beyond my skills to decrypt it - it's just too technical, includes everything (switches and so on) and i'm not even sure it's for the right model.
Anyway, thanx
And btw thumb up for your sho headlights, nice job.

Found it !

Found it
I tested the wiring on the headlight itself - i'ts clean and neat, the connector is i think standard (i don't know which standart it is, it's an oval connector with 4 pins in it) - there's a plus and a negative and it all works fine, all the wiring between ballasts and stuff is already routed inside of the headlight and all the assy can be removed. There's much extra wire for adjusters and other stuff but it's easy to trace and to remove.
Now i have just to find which pin goes to the solenoid for the high beam.
It finally seems this projectors are the very same as on the E65 BMW - If anybody needs pics, i can post some in a few days.
