I found a `92 Continental that has the automatic headlamp feature. How decent in light sensing are these units or would I be better off building my own? I can get all the parts that relate to the system for probably next to nothing but I dont want to spend the time installing it if it wasnt really a good system to start with.
Good donor or should I continue looking?

I probably have the module u refer to in my 95 SHO, which hasn't let me down yet. It has a tiny potentiometer to vary the light level to trigger.
Look out for corrosion on curuitboard - not likely, but evrything rusts eventually...
Ok, next question. The Lincoln has the pull style switch, the Contour has a knob that you rotate. I would think that the auto lamps would just pull power before the switch to power themselves then complete the circuit after the switch. Turning the knob would illuminate the lamps if the autolamps didnt want to. Correct?
I will head out to the yard tomorrow to take a look at it.

Finding the brain for the system sucks! I followed the wiring from the dimmers into the center and my cheap hired help fillowed it from the eye to the main wiring loom. I found what I believe to be the computer but I still need to cross the part number with Ford to find out for sure.
