Isolating lamps from vibration

It hasnt been a problem yet, but I can see it giving me shorter bulb life on my filament bulbs later. I recently changed the trans in my car and when it was apart filled all four motor mounts with urethane (shore 94A). The engine is almost solid mounted, which will be good for the dragstrip, but I see it shaking my bulbs to pieces. The simple way to solve it would be to install HID into the lamps and then isolate the ballasts. That idea is good, but I am not going to put HID into fog lights. The need to be protected somehow. I was thinking perhaps using some washer motor isolators (think `70s, maybe late `60s Mopar if you are familiar with them). Try to imagine a small, maybe 1" diameter piece of rubber that mounts through the plate being mounted. The bolt goes through the bushing and into the body allowing the motor to move slightly. I could build new mounts (on the car) that would hold the grommet and then the bolt holding the lamps could mount through that. If that ends up being too bulky, I could maybe go the same route only using small heim joints to locate the lamp. It would give me greater adjustability and then just put the bushing where they mount to the car.

I am not concerned about the signals/sidemarkers as they are LEDs, so they should be ok. The foggies are my main concern since they are mounted so closely to where the vibrations occur, and it sucks changing thier bulbs. There is HID in the highs right now and the lows will get thiers around tax time.

Other ideas?

I think if u suspended bulbs they would start doing shakies due to bumps in road. Based on that, maybe keeping spares in trunk is a better option all in all.
As an off topic sidenote, 4 cylinder engines tend to get a very short life span if motor mounts are solid. 6 and 8cyl engine are more balanced, so there should be less of a worry.

Almost solid, not completely, but I do see your point. Everything is still all new to me since I havent even put 100 miles on it as a stick, compared to the 60K as an auto. If the vibrations bother me too badly, which I am sure my first long trip will show, I can always cast new mounts using a softer compound. The longevity issues is the main reason I WILL NOT use an underdrive pulley.

The spare bulbs idea is always a good one.

On yet another side note, when you you going to update your avatar? It had to be hard to see the Taurus go with all the time you spent working on it.
