The old gen II Ford Taurus SHO is gone, so that headlamp has been sold too.
Was thinking of an Q45 to fill in the LARGE low beam portion on the Altima. I have seen the puny Hella BiXenon projector on the hidtech.com website.... Time will show...
Dealer cost at Scarborough Nissan outside Toronto for some OEM HIDs are $990 canadian each. He gave me 10% discount without asking, so total is $1800. Add in some taxes and u will pass $2000. I did test a demo car with HID and I was not impressed.

New Nissan headlights from dealer are $308 canadian each pluss taxes

Retrofitting:

Due to interference with turn signal, projector must be mounted slighty down from center and slightly towards side of car. Due to lack of backspace, it must be mounted pretty far out towards glass: Front edge of curved lens would need to sit as far out as 70% of sidemarker window. Which also means that it sticks 50-60mm outside of the defined circle which marks the end of low beam reflector. I really need a doggy bowl here, don't I??

example: Using Bosch single Xenon:

This retrofit used Valeo projectors, Hella ballast, and Philips 4100k D2S bulbs. The Valeo projector was chosen for its shorter depth which allowed for us to mount cosmetic trim deeper back. To give an OEM appearance, custom cosmetic trim was fabricated out of mirrored acrylic to give the projector a more flush appearance with the rest of the headlamp., the cosmetic trim was also painted matte black:

I did actually see he q45 pattern at Young/Adelaide a few days ago. They seemed to perform well, but its not like it stands that much out from most BMW OEM HID. There are tons of bimmers at that intrasection, so thats the reference downtown TO....

talking about bimmers. i did manage to compare against a current gen 5series finally. well... his beam is still much brighter than mine. especially right along the cut off line. the side illumination out powers mine. but on a positive note... it glares! hahaha :P

oh.. and today on the way back home. saw a previous gen accord with hid kit in stock lamp. man did that glare too! it looked like he was on high beam all the way. ouch!

At least you have salvaged the lights. Someone will be very lucky to get their hands on those. Good luck with the new project.

Just got some Audi TT headlights from Germany. It took me several days to actually grab some cutting tools and destroying such an amazingly designed headlamp. I am sure u all have seen it in pictures, but in real life, a master piece shoes itself when you open up the rear covers.

This is a picture probably very few of you really have seen... The TT headlamp is such an huge box compared to the single xenon projector unit:

It was manufactured in 1999, so it had stayed outside long enough to get the cloudy look to it. I fired up some bulbs in there. Sure it worked, but there was no sparkle. It definatly needs some of hermans kitchen cleaning.

Install Scenarios:
Make 45mm hole in back
Makes Bosch units stick out 110mm. 110mm will then be distance from front of glass to OEM reflector where diameter is 45mm.
