Herman, and everybody,

I just got a set of brand new Hella 90mm Bi-xenon modules with ballasts. Just wondering if we want to add some info to the FAQ. And if we do, what things would be on interest. I have fo get some power sockets for these to plug them in ,they did not come with any

Nice! I need a pair of the DOT's myself. You can get power connectors from Dave@

Thanks Mike. I probably will get power connectors from Dave. This way I can actually test them and see what they are all about.

I was going to take them apart and see what is inside. Preliminary examination seems to point in the direction of these units being based on Hella 2nd gen Bi-xenon units (e55), but the curved lens seems mighty clear to me, although with fresnel lines. Ballasts are fully sealed too, 4th gen variety with a separate igniter inside the units.

Hella has been equipping their 90mm units with Osram HID bulbs in the past. Is that still the case? I have always liked the more crispyness of Philips bulbs.

How well they perform in comparison to other well known projector units would be valuable info for FAQ. Maybe some pics on how they look like inside.

Whoa!
Are you collecting Hella 90mm sets?
I sent you Hella H9 90mm if you don't recognize me.

Anyway, that looks different than other 90mm projectors. Is that how they make them now or just different model?

EL'ation, I was gonna make a second retrofit for my car with two exposed projectors like Ford Focus Hella kit, but then got these. I still may use the H9 90mm's later or sell them.

These are a different model, 90mm Bi-Xenon units.

Herman, here are some pictures I have taken, you are welcome to use them for the FAQ if you wish.

So the verdict is that they are Hella 2nd Gen Bi-xenon units based, just like the ones found in 2003+ Mercedeses and Maximas. Being E-code, the lens is very clear but is fresnelized. The reflective bowl is not mirror but not as matte as I have seen in other Hella Bi-Xenons. More proof that HID world is moving towards "harmonized" de-powered units. I will get power connectors for these and see what beam they put out.

curious, i've noticed that lately, the shields for projectors are now all curved? is that what spreads the blue/purple section wider? the hella 90's are flat... even with the finger pushing in the shield 1mm, its nowhere near as curved as the one in your pic or other "colourful" projectors.
