herman... what happened to the dbase? i am looking for the dimensions of the acura tl's projectors. thinking of swapping out my hella's for those. but need to know if they are smaller or larger than the hella's. if larger, i can pretty much forget it. if that is the case, what about the s2k projectors? smaller or larger than the hella's?
I hadn't gotten around uploading images directory to the new site ( http://faqlight.carpassion.info/ ), so try agian now, pictures should be there. Please let me know if things are missing.
I have the measurement for the 04+ acura TL as well, so I will post them.
cool herman... if you could post the dimensions of the tl projectors. do you think they are larger than the hella 90's? some says the hella 90's are the largest projectors out there aside from the q45's... true?
I can't find the TLs sizes now.... I have too much on the go nowadays. They are just a little bigger than the S2000. Beam pattern seem to be one of the most useful nowadays, but price on them are insane. If sales of the 04+ TL continues like the previous successful model, I'd say they will eventually get down to around US$200 for a pair of these projetcors. They should also be alot easier in future to find on the marked compared to S2000 projectors. The TL is sold in much high quantities.
The only reason total volume of the hella 90mm is so large is because it contains
adjustable retaining tabs
an actual front lens (not the curved lens)
weatherproofing in the back.
"cosmetic" bottom reflector
If you shave evrything on the Hella 90mm that are not optically used, you would end up with a very small projector, so if you really wanted to, it could be made very small.
The Q45 has alot larger effective projector bowl, and none of the above properties, so I'd say its a differnt class.
is the tl's projectors larger than the hella 90's including its mounting tab? i need to find the dimensions of the tl projectors so i can see if it will fit inside the housing or will i have to go with similar setup i have now with the hella's. i will be using a new headlamp for this retro. man... the sanding/buff/clearcoat only lasted a few months. argh...
I have yet to have seen the H9 Hella 90mm side by side to a Acura TL. I wouldn't pay the extra cash for a little more. Unless you really really want the bi-xenon function...
Anyway.... I can't afford the 04+TL rojector, so can't tell you how if it is bigger or not. I was hopeing you could feed me with data when u get it???
I did post some pics on the 03+ TSX projector... I know I know...It s not TL and its not Bi_Xenon.
Good choice, Byron, to finally pick a new headlamp. I won an ebay auction on a 1.5 year old headlight for my Altima for US$16 to have something to study on. Its probably too many scratches for my taste.
We have to have a GTA meet in the spring again! I found an even better location!

I'll have a set of TL's soon. I also have a few H9 90mm's around. I'll provide the measurements to you if you wish. Even put them side-by-side for you.
wicked.. thanks! would like a side by side comparison. but when i drive by a tsx, for sure their beams are brighter and much wider. the intensity stays about the same across 1 car's wide side to side. but somehow mine just seems to only concentrate ahead of my car and very little bit to the side (tho it does illuminate license plates 2 lanes away). just can't compare agains the tsx projectors.
thanks eunostt... do let me know what it comes out to be
i found the tsx projector dimensions. its about 3" high, 6" deep, and about 4.5" wide. its actually smaller than the hella 90's with its mounting tabs in place. so its perfect for my headlamp size. now i'm wondering if the tl's would be bigger or just about the same?
Stanley Bi-Xenon projector dimensions(2004+ Acura TL):
Height (w/o solenoid): 95.5mm or 3-3/4"
Height (with/solenoid): 116mm or 4-9/16"
Width: 112mm or 4-3/8"
Length: 167mm or 6-9/16"
Lens (inner, just glass protruding): 68mm or 2-11/16"
Lens (outer, metal housing): 81mm or 3-3/16"
This was taken of a bare projector without a D2S in there or a HV plug on it. Hope it helps.

whoh.. that's just slightly bigger than the hella 90's with mounting tabs. it would be a very hard task to seal up the unit to be weatherproof like the 90's, since i have very limited space.
