Toyota Supra Headlamps

The Toyota MKIV Supra headlamps are pathetic, I want to see if I can improve them.

Has anyone retrofitted a HID setup.

I've never done a retrofit before so I'm trying to gather as much info as possible.

Do you guys get the kits from accident damaged vehicles such as BMW's Merc's and Audi's, I realise I will have some size constraints but which are the best ones to go for?

Or, is it best to buy new parts such as the projector, ballasts and bulbs etc.

Any advice appreciated.

This guy fixed a botched-up retro on MKIV headlights, looks like Valeos (Audi A4/S4) http://hid.extremevelocity.net/gallery/supra/ Pretty nice work,it looks like this retro uses the OEM projector mounts so aiming the projectors will be just like the factory pieces. His name is littodevil on the hidplanet.com forums.

People have done Hella (Audi A6,BMW X5) retros too.

I live in the UK and I haven't heard anything about retrofitting until I found Hidplanet and The Automotive Lighting Forum.

We have a Toyota Supra MKIV owners club and about ten of us bought HID kits that would fit into our Halogen reflectors, the results that I got were pretty poor. They are supposed to have Philips bulbs and ballasts, but I have my doubts, they were originally sourced from a company called Giantlight who are based in Taiwan.

A clearer light but you still cannot see that far infront, very frightening when you're driving such a fast car

I would like to fit a HID projector and get some decent ballasts and bulbs.
