Pilot Sealed Beam conversion Kit from AUTOZONE 6x8

wow, I got a '84 Ford Ranger and seald beams were major suckage.

I could not justify buying a hella conversion kit, kinda pricey, so I figured I'll give these Pilots a shot, J.C. whitney also has conversion kits.

anyhow a few things surpised me, the Lens was made of glass with a few flaws, nothing noticable for the untrained eye.

the Glue sealant holding the Lens to the fiberglass housing/reflector was overly good, a little sloppy in one conner(squished out in the inside of the lens)

The reflector quality wasn't perfect, I had a piece of lint in the metalizing on one, the other one had a 1mm burnt spot up buy the bulb.

now the problem with these kits is the Boot that seals against the housing and the H4 bulb, the boot cannot go on evenly around the housing because the bulb spring is in the way and I got a nice wavy boot around the housing,
I had to use Silicone to seal the boot to the housing.
another problem is ventilation!
the vent is in the boot, the problem is the molded in vent didn't have a HOLE PUNCHED OUT!! it was sealed. So I had to take a fininshing nail and open up the vent holes!

I was really surpised with this kit, since I am in the automotive lighting field, I avoided many mistakes that the others might make with these kits, it's really a shame that they made this kit so poorly, and without instructions.

Over-all it is better than sealed beams and I'm glad I upgraded.
