i've noticed in the faqs that the length of the cable from ballast to bulb (assuming ballast has internal starter) should be 8" or less. can anyone explain why? i've got my hands on a H1 system with bulbs that have a cable length of nearly 10" and the ballast wire is nearly as long. i've fired up the units with a direct feed from the battery and have seen no noticeable problems. am i missing something?
thanx, blackkyds

If you refer to the Philips lvq212/Hella gen III ballast, they have been manufactured in various lengths, 8-14". Ballast is internally compansated for it, I cannot remember the exact reason.
