After I attempted to retrofit an HID ballast that came off of a lexus, it worked for a few seconds and all of a sudden it's not working anymore. The low beams wiring is out but the high beam is working. I figured this out when I put the stock bulb back on. The low beams for the stock bulb is not working but the high beams are. I think I might have fried a fuse or the actual positive wire for the low beams. What's the problem here?

Ballasts are "smart". If the ballast detected a bad ground, incorrect input voltage, or an HID capsule drawing the wrong amount (range) of current, it will shut down. OR you may have fried the MF switch or blown a fuse from excess startup current draw; install relays.

Install relays? What do you mean? I'm not an auto brainer so you might have to educate me alil. Hey but thanx for responding. Umm, well the ballast still works cuz I've tested on another car. I'm just worried about the low beams on the civic headlight. It's not working. Only the high beams are. I've also checked the wire with an electrical tester and it shows that the red wire for the low beams is not working (positive wire, not the ground wire). If it's a blown fuse, shouldn't the high beams malfunction as well? Or is there a separate fuse for the high beams and low beams? If so, which fuse is it? I've been told that it may be the fuse but I can't find the exact fuse. I see a fuse box both under the hood and on the bottom driver side. It's not the fuse under the hood because it's not blown. I took it out and it looks fine. I really want to solve this problem. Which fuse is it?

first thing before installing hid onto any car. a relay driven harness. its a cheap insurance in preventing your factory headlamp wiring and switches from frying. the relay driven harness can be made to take the abuse of hid's startup current draw. where as the OE wiring, nobody really knows if it will stand up to the startup current.

So, do you guys thinks it the red wire (positive wire) that burnt? Or do you think it's a fuse? The high beam is working fine though so I don't know if it's the fuse. I kinda figured if the fuse burnt out then the high beams wouldn't be working, unless there is a separate fuse. If it is the wire that burnt, how much do you think it will cost to get it fixed and where can I get it fixed at? Only at Honda dealership?
