I just bought rx330 headlights and the shields are big.. can I cut the shields around the projector to reduce the size if I make sure the area for the cut-off stays the same... and what about that little curvey area on the right? is that imperative to stay as a whole? I was also noticing this projector on the faq was "alright" would that necassarily be a bad thing for a retrofit? I figure it's better than a halogen reflector with a HID lamp in it

are these halogen or hid? from what i understand the top shield is to cut down foreground lighting. the opening in the middle is the critical one that sends light out far ahead. problem with too much foreground lighting is your field of vision becomes narrower and shorter. this is due to your eye adjusting for the light intensity. kinda like a camera taking picture with flash and without. notice when taking pictures without flash, you can see more of the background.

You can trim it. I'd trim a little at a time, slowly removing the "droop" section in the middle.
It looks like that foreground-reducing shield was added their to avoid reflection from the OEM headlight housing, the projectors are sunken in a bit so if a foreground shield wasn't there you'd get glare.
