Christmas day didnt exactly go at all planned this year. We spent it in a hotel room in some town I had never heard of, with the horses stabled with some creep near by. Chrissy spent the day locked in her room since Floyd and i argued all day long. "What kidn of a Christmas is this? Why are we here?" i yeleld to Floyd. "i want to go home. Why did you bring us here." I whined "Maybe getting away wasnt just about Christmas." He hollered back. i wasnt exactl;y sure what that meant, but it was deep. "I want to be back horm with family and friends. So does your daughter. Forget about her?" I screamed. "What family?! I want some peace and quiet, Chrissy's fine." He stormed. "We havea triple crown winner whose carreer just tragically ended, numerous other horses, and you want peace and quiet? We have friends back home Floyd, friends." I yelled "Im leaving. PAcking up. Whether you come or not." I hollerd. Chrissy and I packed up and left picking up the horses. They seemd just as glad to leave that place as i was to get them out of there. "Are we going back for daddy?" Chrissy asked me. " yes we are going back but I dont know if hewill come." When we got back there wa sa note on the door:
My darlings, I cant come home, I msorry. I need to figure thigns out in my head. Go home without me. Love yous
I tore the note of the door and threw it in my purse. It didnt quite register I just wanted to go home. We got home at 11:30 at night. We put the tired horses away and opened presents under the tree. Then we watched Spirit and ate pocorn. There wa sa message on the machine from Fliyd making sure we had made it home ok and said he would call back later. I turend the ringer off adn we went to bed,

It was about four o'clock on the 26th and I was acting custodial staff vacuuming the halls and cleaning the windows in the apartment building. I heard noise from inside Ash's apartment and decided to knock. I hadn't expected them home for a while.
Ash answered the door.
"Ash!" I said, surprised. "Home so soon?"
She nodded rather glumly. I frowned.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Floyd and I had a huge fight in the hotel Christmas day. Chrissy and I packed up to leave and left Floyd there. I got one phone call from him since. That's it. He said he needed time to 'sort things out'," Ash explained.
"I'm sorry," I said. "Is there anything I can do?"
Ash shrugged. "Not much."
I gave her a hug.
"You gonna be okay?" I asked to make sure.
Ash smiled a little but didn't say anything.
"If you need me... for anything, I'll be cleaning," I reassured her.
