I had stopped by the stables prior to my lesson, not only to prepare, but to see how Sammy was getting on with Rose. Rose was already partially trained and i believed in giving younger, capable students the chances i never got. I saw Rose being spirited, and hoped that Sammy wouldn't fight her, knowing that the stubbon bit** would fight back all the way. To my relief Sammy let Rose out for a play - after getting the requisite amount of nice work from her, if only for a sec. She then caught Rose, and to my horrer began crying and telling Rose some stuff that had been going on. I felt so sorry for her, and wanted to run out there and give her a hug, and tell her it was allright but i didn't know how this would feel for her. So in the end i followed her, and stuck my head cautiously over the stall door, after her brother??? had gone away. "Uh, Sammy?" i said, then thinking to take her mind of things, "You did well with rose, i was watching" Judging by her face, she knew i had heard every word, and was totally embaressed. I had to make that right as well, and knew i would totally blunder. But here went. "When i was your age, at school, a rumour started that i was a lesbian, and i regulary slept with my father. It followed me round for at least a year, and i couldn't even go down town without someone yelling out stuff at me. But i ignored it, and carried on, not letting them get to me, and people decided that it must be all shit. But it still took a long time to die down. I hated myself so much in that time, i'm not even going to mentain some of the things i did to myself, but i think it made me a stronger person. Don't let them get to you, sammy, and you come and see me if you want to talk. Oh, and right about here -" i thoched roses side "Is a good, conveniant groove, that is perfect for crying on!"
I gave her a breif hug, feeling awkward, decided to end the subject. "Ever been hunting? Great fun. Seasons coming up soon, i'm taking my other baby Pride, for a looksie. We've got a couple of spaces, if you'd like to join us? If your Jojo isn't up to it, then you can ride Irish. I'll probly be inviting a couple of the un-pregenant ones to join us as well." with a grin that i hoped was both reasuring and cheerful, i left her to it, going to meet my lesson kids...
