I loaded Rainfall into the trailor after Camey. "Must we leave the palace?" he whined. 'Oh please, i know how much you like Evergreen so quit complaining," I said I locked the trailor and hopped into the subruban. I satred at the old house. It stood quietlyy on the hill, there were a few lights on, I knew Bryan was in there probably rocking Daniel to sleep while telling Sean to wait his turn for a story. I sighed. I drove out of the gates. My guilt gut was gone after about ten minutes, which made me ashamed.
When I got back to Evergreen, I put Rainfall in a paddock wih Camey and looked for two stalls I found two in the furthest aisle over in the barn. I cleane dout the buckets and put in fresh shaving. I turned the heat lamps on and smiled. "It's not much but It'll do," I sighed and swiped at the cobwebs on the bars.
I brought Camey and Rianfall in. "Mindy where is everyone?" Camey asked. "I'm sorry Camey but nobody boards over here," "I want company othere than his royal hanus," she snorted. rainfall bellowed. "Cut it out you two," I said kissing her nose.Rainfall stuck his head out andnickered. I smiled and fed him a carrot he sniffedme for more. "More!" he whined."Sorry," I smiled and grabbed a brush from my tack box I began to brush him and tack him up for a ride. "So are we never going to return?" he asked "I don't know," I sighed. "Please no more questions," I sighed. he stmape dhis hoof as a person appoached.
"good evening," the person smiled. "hi," I muttered. "Is this Midnight Rainfall?" "The one and only," I said taking the halter off and puttigng it with my stuff I buckled my helmut and then check the girth. "I'm nicander Lewis," he smilled. "I don't need to introduce myself," I said airly. "Oh...and why is that?" "Because if you know my horse then you know me," I spat. I felt like a such a snot but this boy was quite the snot himself. I lead Rainfall to the arena The boy followed me. I simply ignored him. I smiled at the course i had put up, it mocked the Budweiser American invitationals. "Theses aren't big," rainfall said. "then prove you can jump them flawlesly in under 48 seonds," I smiled. i new I was being watched but paid no mind. I wamred up and then worked on truns and son on, then we jumped each jump was as flawlss as if they were just ground poles. "Good boy," I would prsaise. I stopped my watch. "Fifty," I said grimly. "Rainfall, the olympics have jump offs and the time is 48 you've gotts do it better," I said he began to prance and we stared again. When we finished we'd finished in 42 seonds. "Let's try getting it down to thirty-nine," I said. rainfall bobbed his head as we made each turn and each jump when we finished the course I stoppe dmy watch. "thirty eight!" I hugged Rainfalls neck and we trotted around happily. "We're not in a show," rainfall droned. "Well then act like we are," I kicked him into a gallop and we took each fence I had made up a new course an Rainfall was ready. I finished with rainfall in thirty seonds. "you're done," I gasped. he nickered and whinnied. i wlake dhim aorund cooling him off and then we went back to the cross ties and untacked. "You had quite a good ride," the boy returned. "Thanks," I said. "I guess the magazines are worng," he murmered. "Mindy Hollander hasn't disappeared of the face of the earth," he turne on his heel and walked away. I felt my face pale and Rainfalls head dropped. "He's wrong, we do have what it takes," I said determined. Rainfall shook his head and snorted. "Are you sure I do?" he nuzzled me. "I smiled. "Of course, How about I start looking through showbills and we'll start showing again?" I asked. "Okay," he ni cered. "Take me to!" Camey whinnied enthused. "No, she's taking me!" Rainfall pinned his ears back. "Stop it," I slapped him. He shied I put him in his tall and and closed it. "Rainfal, i know what htis is about. You're afrid you won't please me in the olympics, that I need another horse. "Well you're wrong," I said. "I'll be twenty in 2004," he nickered. I knew it, and he knew it, and we both knew he was a talented jumper but no horse had ever been so old. I didn't reply. "I'll chek in later," I murmered and walked off. |
