I patted Jojo's neck and slid down. "You're such a sweet boy," I laughed. he nosed me and sniffedmy pockets and licked it. 'i laughed and handed him a cookie. I laughed and led him out. Shae was grooming Gracie when I got to my spot. "Excuse me, hot stuff, you've taken our spot," I said giving him a ruefull smile. He laughed. "Well sorry I jst didn't see you're name there," he winked. I giggled and led Jojo past Grace and to the other pair of crossties.
i groomed Jojo and talked to Shane as well. "So Jason is pretty broken hearted?" he said. I nodded, "Ashley didn't giv ehim a chance to say what he wanted to say." I said with a sigh. Shane nodded. "Well anyways what time should i pick you up tonight to meet my parents," he asked. I gulpd. "well whens dinner?" "Seven," he said. "the is six all right?' I asked.
When six rolled around i wasup stairs in my room trying to find a nice t-shirt. Shane said casual was just fine, but his family was pretty up class. i finally just decided on an orage sleevelless top over a white tanktop. I brused my hair again and ran down the steps. Shane laughed, "You look nice," he smiled. "thanks," I smled breathlessly. I slid my feet into my flip flops and kissed Cinderella goodbye. Jason waved and shane and I walked out to is car. "ahh, you brought your puppy!" I crooned. at the golden retriever in the back seat. hane laughed. "Yeah, thought you'd like that," he said. I picked the precious puppy up. "What is it's name?" i asked. "Pluto," he said. I giggled. "He's very cute," I said scratching his ears.
I held my breath when we wentered thegates of Shnes drive way. "This is you home?" I gasped. Three dogs ran up greetig Shane. " Tray's dogs,' he rolled his eyes. "Who is Tray?" i asked. "My brother's wife," he said. "Don't like her?" "She's just animal crazy,' he siad. i laughed setting Pluto down. he trailed closely at our heels as we walked up to door.
Shanes paretns smiled as shane introduced everyone. "It's nice to meet you Samantha," His mother smiled. "Oh-mom it's Sammy," Sahne said with a shy smile. "Oh dear, I'm sorry," she apologized. "oh it's okay," I shrugged. We were lead to the back porch where three cats laid in the setting sun. "These are Stacy's cats," Shane expained. "Mimo, Barry, and Fatty," he pointed. "howcute,' I said dryly. (I hate cats...I guess I'm a just a dog and horse person. I havenever liked cats).
Dinner was served in courses shanes parents grilled me during the first two courses. "Sammy, do you have a job?" his father asked. "Well, my dad says that I have the best job-just enjoying life right now" I said feeling my face redden with each hard question. "So do you know what you want to be?" His mothere scoffed. "Well actually yes. I want to...be a...polotician," I said finally. I hadnever really been asked so nobody really knew. "A polotician? Well," Stacy said putting down her fork. "Excuse me," she said and got up and left. I looked at shane for help. His eyes were sot and my body became weak. He knew. "anyway," he said trying to change the subject.
I sat next to Shane in the car. "You didn't tell me thaat you're family was rude,' I said shortly. "I didn't know until today," he said softly putting his arm around my seat. "i'm sorry Sam," he said quietly. hot ears streaked down my cheeks. "i was so embarassed. Nobady has askedme what I wanted to be when i grew up so I've always kept it to myself. and then I get asked and your famil hates poloticians!" I said my voie wavered from just crying to hysterics. shane pulled the car over and turned the engine off. He turnedand stared at me. his dark blakc eyes not missing any detail of me. "Sammy don't cry,' he said. It was't soothing it was in order. "I'm seriously sorry for the way my family acted. he leaned frard. I felt his lips o my neck and I rubbed my head in his shulder relaxing in his embrace. "Sammy it's alright." he soothed. I pulled back wiping my tears. "I still lovee you," he smiled. I nodded and sat back in my seat. Exhuastion enveloped me and I fell asleep in the car.
The next thing i know, my mom is smiling down at me from my pillow. "Did I wake you?" she asked. "No, I need to pee,' I yawned getting up. she'd changed me into my pajams nobody had done that sinc puberty. I smiled slightly and then flushed the toilet. I climbed in nextto Cinderella and mom was still there. "Godd night Sam," she smiled. I nodded and rolled over puttng my arms around Cinderella who isnow abou thte size of a bull dog. |
