I laid underneath my covers aand cried. The solitedity of my room was nice, it was safe. I wiped my tearstaind face and laid down into the pillow once more. I cried, myself to sleep.
When I woke up, I suddenly felt peaceful, it was as if I was over it. I stepped out of bed and chaned dresses. I floated down the stairs. Mom sat at the table eating a bagel. "Why do i feel so good now?" I asked. "You're family is resting the tears for once...I suppose" she said irritably. "You need to get out of the house," she said. I nodded "Elmer, come on let's go to the barn!" I whistled. Elmer and cinderella trotted over to me. I walked with them down the sidewalk, among the streets until we reached the stables.
My stomach twisted, "I can't ride that horse," I said softly. I walked into the stable. Rainfall had his head hanging out of the stall. he was dozing though. Elmer barked and Rainfall jumped. He cocked his head and nickered.
"Oh, do you ride him?" a voice asked. I turned. "Yes, well i'm supposed to" I said. "Well, i just wanted to say, that you're very lucky to ride Midnight Rainfall. I'm Jaydee, by the way" "Oh, thanks, I'm Sammy" I said shaking his hand. "good to meet you" he said and walked off. I laughed slightly and led rainfall out of his stall. "How's just a bareback ride?" I spoke softly. He nosed me contently. "I know I'm not Mindy or anything, but I hope we can be good friend until Jojo gets up here," I smiled. Rainfall whickered Elmer and Cinderella growled under their throats. I smirked and bridled Rainfall.
We walked in the fields and I let him graze for a bit, and then headed back. Jaydee was untacking a palomino, and waved when i arrived. I waved a little. "DOn't mind him" A friendly voice said. I looked around and saw a very handsome boy standing beside a black horse. "Tyler" he smiled. "S-Sammy" "Oh i have heard about you...you won the softball game the other day" he smiled. I felt my face grow hot. "Yeah" "Well it's great to meet you Sammy" "mind if i walk with you?" "Oh not at all, you can give me tips on how to handle my own death..." He laughed. "I know it's hard" he said. we talked and turned our horses out together and Tyler showed me around.
It turns out Tyler had been killed by a drunk driver a few months ago, his mom was dead but...wasn't here, his father hadn't died yet. "You're pretty lucky to have your halo...so early i mean" He smiled gently taking my hand. "Oh, i didn't realize..."I stammered but just smiled. "SO Sammy, tell me about yourself...before and after death" he winked. I laughed lightly. "well there are or were i don't know...seven kids in our family. MY big brother Jason and i were pretty close, like best friends....he taught me how to play ball and pull some great jokes...life was good my horse jojo and i were top youths in the dressages nationals...we were going on third level before all of this. Some lunatics began attacking my barn that we stayed at and they were going to kill one of my friends horses and i tried to save her...i got the injection instead. It ate up my liver and now here i am" I said hoarsly. "I'm sorry" he said. "Yeah, my mom is turning crazy, my dad is in denial, jason doesn't even know" I said. Tyler wiped my tears. "The first month is hard" he nodded.
"Hey Tyler!" Voices echoed int he pizzarea. We turned and saaw several people coming over to us. "Hey guys, this is Sammy, that softball playa!" Tyler said. "Pleasure," they all smiled. "Sammy, this is Matt, Davie, and Adam" he said. "so tyler showin you the ropes?" matt asked. I laughed. "YOu could say that" I nodded.
We ended up having a great day we played video games and catch with the dogs. And the Tyler walked home with me. "We should meet up sometime" he said. "I'd like that," I smiled he nodded and waved goodbye. I walked into the house Elmer and cinderell plunged in ahead. "I had a great time" I yelled. "I met a few guys to hang with! They're great, especially tyler," saying his name i smiled and felt my heart flutter. "Tyler? Oh , he's such a sweet boy" an old woman smiled. "Sammy dear this is Mrs. Regon, she is having tea with me. would you like some?" "Oh, no thanks, uh i'm more of a cocoa or esspresso person!" I smiled. She nodded.
I floated up the stairs and showered quickly.
In the mirror i smiled. i dried my hair and then added my halo, then i put it back. "Mom wears hers....so should i wear mine?" I thought outloud. I decided i should because it might so signifigance or somthing. I smiled again. then I peered into the viewing glass. and there was Jason...he was in Jojo's stall they were mourning. I felt my high spirits raise. I gently touched the surface. "Jason i love you, never forget me...Jojo, be a goodboy always," I whispered.
