The car ride to Evergreen was anything but noisey. My only real companion was the radio, which was tuned into cocuntry of course. I enjoyed the peace and happiness that came along with hearing Rascal Flatts, Dierks Bentley, Brian McComas, Kenny Chesney, Chris Cagle, Jimmy Wayne, and countless others. Oh yea, there was my Clay Aiken cd too! Jason just kept his eyes forward, driving, and I could see he was trying not to cry. Chrissy staed out the window, lost in space. I imagined the horses munching on hay and asking each other when we all turned crazy and were constantly on the move. THank God I has well behanved shipping horses! I tried to imagine what it would be like when we arrived at Evergreen. What would happen at thte hopsital? would Sammy's body really be there...dead. I could never grasp the concept, that even though someone was dead, they were still there. You could see them and feel them. How is that dead? IF youre dead, you should just disapear and be gone. Or turn into an alien or something. You shouldnt still be here. We finally turned into Evergreen, and Ashes, Cloud and Bond let out many whinnies. Numby Jr. immediatley followed suit so he didnt feel left out. "Here we are. I will get our old room keys from Scarlet and Jakob. Get the horses settled in the for night babes. First thing in the morning we wil ldrive to teh hospital." jason said, distantly. I gave him a kiss on the cheek and Chrissy helped me unload the horses. A heavy snow had begun to fall, and I was quite displeased to find that the walks for rather slippery all ready. I cursed under my breathe and carefully backed each horse out. Cloud just ambled out and walked into his stall like this was the norm. Bond floowed in suit, only snorting the snow on the ground the whole way. Ashes pranced out of the trailor. Her first snow. She slipped a little and I had to hold onto her strongly, or else she would have acted up. I gtrabbed her halter and coaxed her gently. We made it to the stall, but she wasnt pleased. She wanted to see what this white stuff was all about. I promised I would let her play in it tomorrow evening. Numby Jr. I odnt know what to say. He reared, he charged, he bit, he ran. But somehow, we made it to eh stall. Numby's stall. He smelled that stall like there was a hidden peice of apple in it somewhere.Chrissy gave the horses water feed and hay, and we meandered are way up to the apartment, where Jason ahd already fallen alseep on the couch, phone by his side. |
