I didn't expect to see the boy again. My heart bursted with love for him and i couldn't explain why. When he came to see me he had a carrot for mother. I sniffed them, they smelled so delicious. "You will be getting your teeth in soon, then maybe you can have a small bite" Mother sniffed. I tossed my head and as my stomach gurgled i immediately began to nurse.
"good girl " mindy said as she haltered me. I was tied to mother and we walked down the gravel to a paddock infront of the entrance. "why are we down here?" i asked. "All the others were taken" Mindy smiled. I cocked my head and then trotted around with Mother. I reared on my legs and galloped around the paddock. "Look at you" Mother laughed. She galloped with me. Instintively i sped up and ran harder. Mother snorted and stopped I saw her and slowed down and walked over. "noel you are full of energy" she nickered. I whinnied. she began eating the hay in the bin. i nursed and had my lunch.
i stood with Mother at the gate waiting to be brought it. Mindy was walking down with Jason and her daughter. I whinnied shrilly and began to prance. "Stand still" Mother said laughing. I whinnied. and as jason came close whickered and stuck my head inbetween the fencing and stuck my nose into his legs. HE laughed. "HEy girl" he scratched my head. "I'm going to buy you soon" he smiled. I didn't understand that but I whickered again. I lifted my head up and sniffed the little girl. she giggled. I nosed her and nuzzled her. She clapped her hands. and then patted my face a little hard Startled I took off at a gallop. "I'll get her." Jason said smiling. I stopped in the far corner of the paddock. He walked up to me and put my halter on. I butted him in the back and pranced around him excitedly. "cut it out sport" he laughed. I lifted my upper lip and snorted. he laughed. I nuzzled him carefully. and he led mother and i back to the stable.
in the barn i heard Jojo talking to Mindy about me. "She's special for a filly. Like Sammy was" he said. "Who's Sammy?" i asked mother. MOther smiled gently and whickerd something quietly. "She was a special child. She loved horses for all the right reasons, she loved her friends and loved that boy, especially Jojo " she blinked a couple times. "A while ago, something horrible was happening Jojo and a few other horses were stolen and even killed. Sammy managed to save a horse from death, but inturn she died." Mother was quiet. "Everyone thinks you're her spirit" Mother nuzzled me. I cocked my head. "Oh" was all i could say. I went back to the opening in the stall. "Jojo we were saving her for the kids" Mindy sat on hay infront of his stall. I watched intrested. "mindy jason needs her more" Jojo said wisely. "You're right" she sighed. "That means i have to buy a horse" she pouted. Jojo nosed her. "I'll behave" he offered. Mindy turned and patted his jaw. "I just can't believe that i had to lose two people in this. Rainfall and Sammy" Mindy sniffed.
Hours later after dark. Jason walked down to the stable. I nickered as he entered the stall. Mother and i were in the heat lamp resting. "Hey" he smiled and sat with us. "YOu're mine now" he said smiling. I nosed him, don't worry you're not leaving your mom for a while and i'm not going to finalize anything until after your weaned. Ash said we might race you and stuff" his eyes sparkled. Mother snorted. "Racing is awesome Noel, you'd love it" he sighed. I layed my head in his lap. "And you know something else?" he whispered stroking my neck. "I think you are the most beautiful horse i have ever seen. Today when i saw how you behaved with Mindy's baby. I can't wait to see you with Ash's and I's kids" he smiled. I lickedhis hands. He smiled and played with my mane. i closed my eyes and then opened them he was still there.
"Jason are you ready for dinner?" Ashley asked. "No" he smiled. "Look, you aren't marrying that filly" she teased. Jason laughed and kissed my nose. "Now i am" he winked. I snorted. What was he talking about? I watched them leave and then layed down beside mother. "That boy loves you a lot" Mother said bathing me. "i know, I love him too" I whickering. SHe laughed. "Ohhh Noel." she whickered. I nosed her hungrily and she willingly stood up so i could have my dinner.
