Sammy

I trotted around the paddock waiting with mother to be let in. I had decided i didn't like snow much and never would, i didn't like how it got on my face and stung it with a numbness that one couldn't endure for too long. I didn't like how when it landed on my lashes wet stuff fell into my eyes and made them sting. And most indeffinately, i didn't like walking in it, it made my hooves and legs quake with chills and my tail stand on end. Mother encouraged me to move but i couldn't it was too cold.
when Jason came to get us finally he patted my head and tied a rope to my neck. "maybe Ashley will race you, that'd be intresting" he laughed roughly.
Later that evening Jason Chrissy and Ashley all stopped by to check on their horses. I stayed in the corner and watched them tiredly. "I don't know, "Jason said looking at me uncomfortably. I perked up at this. I walked over with mother and let them pet us. "I really really need her. I know this sounds weird but she really does remind me of my sister, and she-" he trailed off. His eyes were watery and quiet. Ashley looked at him unsteadily Chrissy smiled thoughtfully. "Can-can you two leave, i need some space" he muttered. and walked off. When they had left Jason let himself in, Mother snorted in disgust. I agreed why was he such a whoosy all the time? I need my rest, didn't he know that? I couldn't listen to all his problems all the time" I heard Jojo's deep whinnydown the aisle as he banged a board with his chains.
"Sammy, Mom is going crazy." he said, "I think she thinks this is your wedding and your dreams. She's only trying to help, it's her nature, but he practice is failing since you died. Why the hell did you die!" I was afraid of this Jason, he was walking around the stall pacing back and forth. "MOther-" "hush, let him speak" She murmered. I stood close to her and trembled. "I need you Sammy, I need you at this wedding shrimp," threw my jolly ball on the wall. Mother stamped disproval. Jason turned to her. "You are so damn lucky that she hasn't died yet." he yelled. I watched horror struck. It was like he'd transformed. I felt myself shrinking in my body. I felt like I was transforming. My mouth ached my throat was dry, i began to nurse, I nursed for more comfort. "sammy" A voice whispered inside me. "speak to your brother tell him to settle down" The voice murmered. I looked beneath my mother's belly and stared at Jason, I felt so scrawny suddenly. "Jason," i nickered. I stepped forward. One-step, two-steps three, four it was a rythm that suddenly came to mind. "Jason" I whickered again and twitched my lips around in his messy hair. "what?" he muttered. "I'm here for you, I never left" I whickered. Jason didn't say a word. "YOU left" he muttered. "NO she didn't!" A bright light bursted through the stable and there stood Tyler. I whinnied tossing my head. he smiled lightly and touched my neck. I felt my body, it was weird it was forming, i suddenly off balance and unsteady. I looked down at my feet, there were only two. I smiled and hugged Tyler. "Oh I know i will forget all of this," I gasped and kissed his smiling face. "Sam!" Jason stared. I shrugged, "hey big brother, grow up" I kicked his foot. he laughed. "We figured that you needed to say a goodbye," Tyler said to him. Jason nodded and stood up and hugged me. I sat in the hay with him.
"Oh Sam, I'm so sorry" He murmered. I smiled. "YOu couldn't help it, and i had the decision to stay or go. But Jason I would have been in misery, I would have been paralyzed, I would have been in the hospital for 4 years. Jason, sometimes you have to put yourself ahead of others" i wiped my eyes. He nodded. "So they let you come back as a horse" "I did it for you. I knew you needed me. I knew, we all knew about how you wanted to commit suicide" I smirked. He blushed. "I had considered it" "Jason, you're a great guy with a great fiancee and daughter, you have me as your horse. And i want to be a dressage horse and when i am old enough I wanna be let out with Jojo, and bring Lillian sometime" I said. Tyler laughed, "elmer is fine by the way" he said squeezing my hand. "Jason please, don't let me go, just get past this" I said. He was crying. It broke my heart. "I love you so much, and I know everything you say so don't be mean. I said wiping my tears. "Okay" tyler whispered. "Oh and this is Tyler, tyler this is Jason" I smiled. Jason hugged me. "well shrimp you haven't changed and i'm glaad you are myyyy horse..." He smiled. "You won't remember this" Tyler reminded me. "He will" I nodded. tyler laughed and took my hands. "I visit often" he winked. "I feel you" I laughed and kissed his lips once more.
I shook my head startled Mother was sleeping and i was close to her. I looked over in the corner, Jason laid there sound asleep.

"Ash it really is her!" Jason exclaimed, running through the door. "Who, what?" I responded confused. "Sammy, Noel, Sammy! She was human Ash she was! But she's a horse again, but its ok because its really Sammy!!" Jason blabbed. It took me a second to gather in every thing he had just said. "Wow" was all I could muster. "So why didnt she stay as human?" I asked at alast. "She cant. This was a one time thing, so we could say goodbye." He smiled. I nodded "Thats awesome hon, it really is." I gave him a hug. Maybe now eveerything would be all right. Now the wedding could go on perfectly, Sammy could really be there, and Jason would finally be at peace.
