"A father Noel, I'm going to be a father," Jason rested his forehead against my own. He petted it delicately. "You know, I think you have a small star right here" he said with a smile. I whichered lipping his shirt cuffs. "You could help it learn to ride and stuff" He added. I whickered and found his treats and bit at his jean pockets affectionately. he laughed. "Oh God Sammy" he murmered. I cocked my head. "You'd die if you were here. Not for real again though" he added slightly smiling. "I miss her Noel, i really do" He patted my neck. I snorted and got up and walked over to where Nana stood with Camey nursing. I began to nurse too.
"A baby" I thought softly licking Camey as she was pretty dirty herself. I got bored with that soon though and stuck my head out of the stall door and watched people and their horses come in and out. "Hey girl" people would occasionaly pat my jaw bones and give me a kiss or something. I snorted bored beyond belief. It was raining outside therefore i wasn't allowed to be let out. I hung my long neck low and fiddled through the appliances that simultanously were hung up on the door. I nosed through the brushes and such until one of the stable hands shooed me out of them. I snorted and then found the intresting door latch. I smiled to myself and began to flip it up and down, up and down. i found this exciting, it released my energy and i was allowed to focus on something. It felt strangly logical. I stared at Patsy to make sure that she didn't see me, of course she couldn't though, she was sleeping.
I tugged at the latch and to my joy the door opened. Camey and Nana stared at me. "Now what?" Camey asked. I sniffed around then entrance, it seemed safe. Slowly and cautiously i stepped out of the stall my body was quivering with excitement. and i wanted to run buck and kick. "Hey kid, get me out!" A bay horse nickered. I turned and tossed my head up. "Why? Who are you?" I whinnied smartly. I trotted down then aisle sniffing each stall until i found that familiar and safe smell. "Jojo!" I squealed. He looked up from eating his manure (yes my horse does this so does yours believe it or not!) He snorted. "You're smart, not even i can figure that out...get me out of here too" He said excitedly. I stepped a little ways back. "what's on your legs" he stared at them for a while and thought. "kicking chains is what sammy called them. they kept me from hurting myself" he nicked. "who is sammy? why does everyone keep talking about her?" i said opening the stall door and walking inside. Jojo watched me intently as i sipped his water. "hmmm" i said turning to him. "It has apple juice in it, sammy put it in there for me. don't drink any other way" he nickered. I stamped my hooves impatient. Who was sammy? what'd she do? Jojo layed down and began chewing at the buckleson his chains. "why are you..." i stopped as then both slipped off. "Wanna go for a trail ride?" he asked. "but we're...not with humans!" I whickered he nosed me. "You need to take a chance like you used to come on i'll be with you the whole time" he nickered. I followed him with ease.
"Sammy was this human, she was unbelievable, my owner. She had this long blonde hair about the color of your mane, she was pretty short, had freckles, her eyes changed colors on her mood, her teeth were pretty, and she had this dog named Elmer, he was my best friend. Jason, is her older brother, he loved her more than life itself. I reckon he'll name his daughter after her or do something in her honor. She died ya know of some liver problem." I trotted close to him listening, catching every word. "So how come everyone talks to me about her?" i asked. Jojo stopped abruptly. "You don't know?" I snorted oddly. "No you don't. Noel, you have her personality, as far as i can tell you're not gonna be very tall, and you've got her colorin, the eyes are two different colors and i'll be money if you were body shaved you've got freckles, not to mention that dog" He nuzzled me. "Sooo what are you saying?" i asked slurping up pond water. "I'm saying, people see a little bit of Sammy in you, I do anyway" Jojo nickered. I lifted my head and suddenly was afraid of him. I stepped up the hill and stood beside him. "Look kid, we better get back, something teells me that is feeding time and you're gonna be in trouble anyways...with Patsy and all" I snorted. "Patsy was sleeping when i left" JOjo laughed and we cantered up the hill. "hoa, stop" JOjo ordered. i slowed myself. "Stand still" he said. I twitched. we walked slowly. up the hill and stopped. "Listen," he twtiched his ears and looked around. "what was that?" I said frightened. "JOjo what's happening" I squealed. "Shut up" He hissed. I snorted and took off at a gallop. "Noel stop!" Jojo yelled. i heard his hooves behind me. I stopped a mile ahead and felt the ground begin to vibrate. I pranced around frightened. "trail rides aren't safe for little ones" a voice nickered to me. I whirled around. "settle down small one I'm not going to hurt you, you are lost" I stared at the big black stallion with utter disbelief. "i can't find jojo"I whimpered. "Noel...." jojo nudged me. "sorry sir" Jojo bowed. the stallion nickered and sniffed us. "are you two wild?" he asked with a chuckle. "OF course not" I whinnied. "well then who let who out of their box?" the horse nickered. I stepped back and closer to Jojo who stood quietly infront of me. "She did, got bored i guess" Jojo said with a shrug. he snorted and shook his head lowering it to sniff the ground. "took her out for a joy walk? Where is her mare?" The stallion stared at me with a fiery gaze that my my blood heat up and my feet prance. It mad me want to run again. "settle down little thing" I lowered my head. "Well, just run along, i have herd to watch. Just making sure everyone was okay," he nodded and cantered off. Jojo stared at me. "don't you ever do that again, he could have taken you in, i would have been in so much trouble".
I followed jojo into his stall and snoozed. "I like your stall, look at how nice they keep it for you. Do you miss having Sammy ride you?" I bubbled. "Yeah, i reckon i miss her. But you keep me amused he laughed nuzzling me. I tossed my head and blew in his nostrils. "I had fun on the walk today, it was fun"
"Noel, you little devil!" Chrissy huffed. I nosed her excitedly. 'good thing MOm and jason don't know or they would go crazy! I have been riding Cloud for hours looking for you" She scolded. i nickered and shoved her bottom. She giggled. "here" she handed me my oats and then shut the top of my stall as well as the bottom. "Clever" Patsy winked. "You didn't get hurt did you?" "No ma'am" I nickered and found my hunger and walked over to nana and joined camey and began to nurse.
