I nickered as people passed my by. To my complete delight the people that turned me out forgot to shut the top door of my stall like chrissy had instructed. I played delightfully with the latch until it came loose I nudged the door with my nose as it flew open. I jumped out of the stall gleefully and trotted around down the aisle. Jojo stared at me. from the paddock in which he had to stay according to Scarlet. He'd broken too many boards and it was getting more expensive to replace them all the time. I whinnied a greeting and then ran over. "You devil," he chuckled. I nosed him and opened the gate to the paddock and let myself in. I jumped around with Jojo to my hearts content.
"Wow look Jojo i'm doing it!" I shrilled as i did piroettes around the paddock. he whinnied and threw up his head. We danced around.
"NOEL?!" Someone yelled. I pricked my ears and hid behind jojo. It was Jason he was looking for me. Jojo stared at me. "Kid you're going to get a pop on the rear in a minute" He said laughing. "Oh please Jojo" I whimpered. jason looked around with his hands on top of his head. I watched intrigued. "Noel, you should know better" Jojo looked at me sternly. "but I love being outside playing" I whined. "stop it," jojo whinnied out repeatedly and the ran off revealing my hiding plac. Jason stared. "You rat"He said. I saw his hand coming over, jojo's words played in my head. I ran away frightened. I didn't move. I watched nervously. "Jojo go get her" Jason said. I stared at him from my corner paddock. Jojo looked at me. "go on" jojo whickered. i stayed put. "I'm not going to let him hurt you Noel" Jojo nuzzled me. I backed up and away from the encouragement. my body was tensed and everything around me was still. "fine, suit yourself" Jason threw both hands in the air and walked away.
I relaxed and stood at the fence with Jojo waiting for evening hay. "You are a bratty little horse" jojo laughed. I twitched my nose and then trotted off. Something told me something was terribly wrong. "I have to go back"I said. I walked to the gate and let myself out. I said goodbye to JOjo and cantered back to my stall. It was open and there was Nana and camey both sleeping in the hay. I closed the door to my stall and stared at Patsy. she had been sleeping all day long. I let myself out again and went to nuzzle Patsy i wanted her to tell me a story. she didn't move. "Patsy?" I nickered. I didn't understand this. I layed in the straw with her and nickered soothing words to myself. I knew now what was going on and the pain i felt was too familiar for words.
