It was so great to see Scarlet. And I was so envious of Jackob. He was ALWAYS happy, always put you in a good mood. Alwyas there for you, and even with this blindness, still so full of life and energy. I wish I could be like that. It really made me think. "Well I beter get going before it gets too dark. I dont want to get lost in this bloody countryside, yea." Moshin stated after we had all left the main hall. "Why dont you just stay with us? That is if you dont mind the couch. Why waste money on hotels." Jason said thoughtfully. That took me by surprise. JAson was letting a friend, a GUY friend of mine stya with us! And without prodding from me nonetheless. "Oh thatd be great. Thanks lad." Moss smiled. Jason just winked and we all walked back up to the apartment. "Come on Mo, we can take the truck, lets go get your bags." And without a nother word Jason and Moshin left. I gave Chrissy a look, "Think they'll come back? Either Jason's going to kill Moshin, or they are eloping." We both laughed. "You know what I think, I dont think Jason feels too threatened anymore, because you are pregnant with his kids." Chrissy said matter-o-factly "Hmmm, that could be. Wow, just think how relaxed he will be when we get married then!" We both laughed. we turned on lifetime waiting for one of our favorite movies to come on, with our big bowls of popcorn, when a newsflash came on. "This is WTV local, latbreaking news. Traffic is going to be backed up for a while on route 216. A ford truck, carrying two passengers crashed over the landrail of a road bridge, and rolled down a hill. Police say the driver ahd swerved to avoid running into a loose horse that had run across the road. They havent identified the passenger and driver, as they are appearantly unconcious and still trapped under the truck. The horse however seems fine, but no owner has come forward. Stay tuned as more coverage comes your way." Before the news caster officially ended his speech, they showd you a picture of the accident. Chrissy and were both speechless, unsure of what to do. That was our truck. What if it was our horse too? No that was crazy. "Shit Chrissy." I screamed as it all suddenyl sank in. we ran out the door, remebering they had our car! "HORSES!" Chrissy screeched. She jumped on Cloud and I jumped on Bond and we rushed to teh scene.

Jakob came into the bedroom where I was lying on the bed in my pajamas reading, my novel propped up on my very round tummy. I smiled as my baby's tiny kick jerked my book ever so slightly.
"That was a wonderful visit with Ash and Jason and their friend," I said as Jakob felt his way under the covers next to me. "Good to catch up. I have missed them..."
Jakob nodded. "Meeting Moshin was certainly one of those moments I was glad my good Catholic father wasn't present," he laughed. "We haven't been able to convince him to come within a five mile radius of the English yet."
I shook my head. "Oh dear..." I sighed. "I liked Moshin. He seems like a great guy."
We sat for a moment. Jakob put him hand on my stomach and kissed my cheek. Suddenly he sat up and looked out the window towards the main hall.
"Did you hear that?" he asked stiffly.
"What?" I was suddenly worried.
"A scream," he whispered, straining to hear.
I sat up straight. "Sounds like Ashley! God, that girl swears like a sailor!" I exclaimed, pushing myself off the bed. "I'm going to see what's wrong!"

I threw on my coat and boots and ran (more waddling than running actually) outside. I saw Ash and Chrissy saddled up and cantering off up the road.
I put my fingers in between my lips and whistled. They both stopped and turned. They both looked horrified.
"Where are you going?!?!" I asked, my heart pounding hard against my ribs.
Ash trotted back to me. "There's no time!" she said breathlessly. "Jason and Moshin were in an accident. They swerved to miss a horse... they're hurt!"
I drew in a sharp breath. This was all too much. I knew Ash had gone through the pain of loss many times before, and by the same means...
"You go. I'll follow in the truck," I said.
"No, Scarlet!" Chrissy said, looking at my stomach.
"I'll be fine. I'll get Toby to drive!" I said. "You go!"
I watched Ash and Chrissy gallop up the dirt road in the dying light of day and then rushed to Toby and Loranna's.
It didn't take much explaining to get Toby on his feet. He'd seen the news broadcast and recognized the truck in the ditch. I called Jakob quickly and let him know we were going.
Within minutes we were in Toby's car, driving to the scene of the accident, hoping, praying.

I watched carefully from the paddock as the people rode off in haste. "wonder what's wrong?" Jojo muttered. I didn't speak. I whinnied and suddenly a warmth took over my body. "go after your brother" the voice pleaded. i snorted knowing what had happened. Jason was hurt. I let myself out of the paddock and followed the humans as the galloped down roads. I galloped faster, and faster until it felt like i was running on air. My nostrils flared, i consumed every oune of air that i could manage.

when the humans stopped there were a bunch of bright lights, lots of screaming, lots of confusion. i stared a second taking in the scene. i heaved, my sides ached. "NOEL!" Chrissy yelled. I laid my ears back at her and her horse. "Leave me alone!" i bared my teeth angrily. I watched them carefully. they watched me. Cloud had a faint look of sarcasm. I hated her right then, she had it easy as a young filly. I whinnied shrilly, looking for Jason. I whinnied again. everyone was staring at me. i walked closer and closer to jason's smells.
He was sleeping...I hoped. i nosed him, allowing my instincts to leave i nosed him, i smelled him. "wake up jason, I'm here" i whispered. "Jason you need to come back, you're not supposed to go to heaven yet" I murmered. "Jason i love you, i want you back!" I bleated. I nipped his hand. "Sammy don't bite" he muttered. "sammy let me sleep i don't wanna play ball" he muttered. i stared. "Hey kid" tyler's voice smiled. "I'm a human...Tyler this is too confusing!" i said. "Don't worry they only see you as a horse. "Sammy your brother doesn't belong in heaven yet. You need to get him up" Tyler kissed my lips softly. I loved the feel of it. Nothing had ever felt so reassuring. "Jason Holden get up right now" I yelled. He opened an eye. "Hey shrimp" he said. "Shrimp?" "shhh, Jason you aren't allowed in Heaven yet, you've gotta stay here' i nudged him. "You've gotta wake up" I murmered. "Noel you shouldn't have jumped the fence. "I didn't!" I defended myself. "Jason, Would you be mad if i left?" I asked looking at tyler. "What?" "Jason, I'm not meant to be here" I said suddenly. Tyler smiled at me. "Sammy, you're meant to be with your brother" he winked and suddenly faded away.

"go-put her in a stall where she can go in and out as she pleases" Jason moaned to a man who asked me what he wanted done to me. I followed quietly as people flashed pictures and such at me. I was scared. I then found myself tied to a tree with three other horses. they all stared. "So you're the wretch that caused this? Fillies Charley they only think of themselves" A roan muttered. "Hey that's not true! i knew it'd happen, I had a feeling" I said. "Save the sob story for the vet" The roan laughed.

I hadnt even noticed Noel. Chrissy had taken Ashes from me and I ran over to the upside down truck. "ASH!"I heard a familiar voice. Scarlet came waddling over to the police line, with Toby helping Jakob. "Ma'm stand back please. You cant go over there." An oficer said sternly. Scarlet gave him an exasperated look. I ran over to her and hugged her. "Its all too awful! Jason has been pulled to the car, and blacks out every now and then, they wont tell me anything though. Moshin is still stuck inside and he wont answer."I cried. "Aaash." I heard a moan. I left Scarlet and ran over to Jason. "I love you." he whispered and then groaned and blacked out again. "God dammit help him!!" I shouted. IT seemed like everyone was just standing there watching. Everything was in slow motion and no one would help me. FInally they hoisted him onto a stretcher and rushed him to the ambulance. I didnt know what to do. I wanted to follow my fiance, but I had no car, Moshin was still stuck, my daughter was somewhere watching the horses, I was confused and scared. I felt so alone. THey had brought the jaws of life in, and pried apart the truck. The sight was horrible. Moshin's body looked like it was all folded over, like an oragami folding gone wrong. There was blood everywhere. I screamed again and ran over to him. Before I could get to him someone lifted me up and I kicked and thrashed around. He slung me over his shoulder and led me to the other side of the police tape. "Ma'm you dont need to be over there and getting in the way. Take your kid and animals home and wait." An officer said. I was outraged "DONT YOU TELL ME..." I started to yell in his face but Jakon had grabbed my arm gently. "Dont Ash, its not worth it." I just frowned but didnt say anything more. "Mom, dont make me go to the hosptail. I cant do this again." Chrissy said, she sounded so small. I hugged her and cried. "We can watch her." Scarlet offered. "COme on Ash. LEts take the horses home, and then I will drive you to the hosptail." Tony said I couldnt argue. Thats when I noticed Noel. "You little rat." I teased, having my first laughed. She threw her head up and snorted. ALl of the horses were fine, inlcuding the one JAson swerved to miss. But I still didnt do anythigna bout the horses, I didnt have time to worry. We put the horses in their stalls and fed them. I shut Noel's top door becuse I didnt need another thing toworry about. I hugged Scarlet, and Chrissy goodbye and Toby drove me to the hopsital. "You know how mnay times IVe ben here? I know all the docotrs, nursers, janitors, and interns, and they all know me." I huffed running through the front door with TOby. Everyone had been expecting me. "Ashley you cant go in there." Mrs. Hitchens who was behind the desk said. "Whatch me!" I scoughed. Appearantly they knew that reaction was coming and they had two of their security officers waiting at the end of the hallway. I st down in front of them refusing to move and Toby stood there, a little beweildered. The surgeon came out but wouldnt tell me anything. Nobody would. I was lost, my world was lost, eveyrthing I knew was closing in
