"Hey." Jason smiled opening his eyes. "How long have you been sitting there?" "Oh, only a few hours." I laughed. Jason rolled his eyes. "I know I know. I should have left, or woken you up." I mocked Jason laughed and kissed me. "So hows things at the ranch?" my darling fiance asked me. I nodded slowly "Fine I guess. Horses are all lovely, but they miss you, Numby Jr. included! And Chrissy is really sad...Moss is still..." I trailed off. "I have a surprise for you!" I said suddenly Jason's eyebrows raised in surprise. "Dont go anywhere." I ran outside and came back 5 minutes later with Noel at me heels. Jason stared in shock and Noel ran past me and over to the bed, making lots of noise. "Sssshhh." Jason cooed. "Howd ya do this?" I just smiled and answered "Hunny, you know how many horses have been in this hospital? When I was sick before the PReakness last year, Dust came in. When CHrisy was really sick I brought Bond in. When Sammy was sick, I brought Jojo...now you get Noel. Its come to be expected of me." we both laughed as Chrisdy walked in with some food.

I stared at jason and then at ashley, and then around the room. What was wrong with him, I didn't undstand it at all. I nosed him carefully, his arms were pricked with clong clear pipes, his body wasn't the same, there was something drastically different about him. I sniffed his body treasuring the comforting smell. I nosed his legs and then sniffed all around his waist, i didn't understand, what was wrong with him. I turned and faced ashley, I pricked my ears "what's wrong with him?" I asked. she smiled. "Your welcome" She smiled. I snorted. That wasn't the answer i wanted. I twitched my nose and then turned and repeated my question to jason who didn't look at me for a second. Then he smiled and patted my neck, "don't worry shrimp, I'll be up and moving sooner or later" I didn't really expect that type of an answer but i figured it would do. I nuzzled him, and then sniffed around the room. It was a plain smell, it reminded me of the smell of Mother after she'd died, there was really nothing to smell anymore. The lighting was dim, soft, and soothing, there was one window on the farthest side, but it was covered, i wondered if jason had tried to escape from it.
When i got home Ashley turned me out in a paddock with three different horses, they were all mares. i stared at them all, and they all stared back. I wondered why i wasn't with Jojo, and then walked over to greet the other horses. they were all mares, and two of them raced, the other one belonged to Scarlet. she was the shyest of the three, her name was Millicent. We didn't play too much they all just grazed, i whinnied when i saw one of the hands leading jojo out. He let out a low nickered that made me whiskers twitch and my tail flick. "Ooo lalala" The mare named Ashes teased. "Forget him kid, he's a gelding" she smiled. "He's my best friend" I said stiffly. "Well" She said smartly and trotted off. I trotted around the gate impatiently, i wanted to tell him all about my adventure and Jason. I finally lost my nerve and opened the gate myself.
