Sammy

I watched from the fence as Noel awkwardly trotted around with Millicent, one of Scarlets horses. The horse Sammy had saved, and I noticed how the two had bonded, Mill suddenly taking on the role of mother and Noel gratefully accepted her. It seemed to me that Sammy was always with me,and nobody ever took notice of the small things that happened so often, and how those small things always held a little bit of Samantha Rosemarie Holden's spirit. Mill nosed Noel patiently encouraging every small step that Noel took. And when it was a trot or a brief canter, Noel looked to me with a note of triumph sketched across her deformed face. It pained me to see it, Knowing how much of it was my fault, no matter how many times people told me not to blame myself, my horse has learned how to open gates and now my horse was responsible for Ashley's misery. At the thought of Ashley i closed my eyes, she had no clue where I was, and i had no notion of making it apparent all too soon. I saw that Cloud was out of her stall and I therefore made sure that Noel was safe in her paddock once more and I left.

I drove around in my car and after passing the ice cream parlour for the fifth or sixth time, i resolved to go in and have a milkshake or something. "Can i help you?" A pretty brunette girl with celery green eyes smiled at me. I couldn't help but look about a foot down and note her chest (sorry to be so blunt but it's something he'd do....sadly). Her nametag said "Mandy" on it "Sir, can i help you?" She asked again, with the same bright and "people person" voice. "Yeah a medium strawberry malt" I said. "That'll be $1.75" she smiled, but it wasn't a business smile, I understood this smile it pricked all my shallow male egotiscal sensors, this smile was an "I'm interested in you" smile. I handed her two bucks, "keep the change" i nodded letting her know I saw the signal she bit her lip and put the two dollars in the register. I moved out of the way, and waited until i received my malt. When i had i walked outside and plopped into a chair and ate slowly, mulling over the flirting that i had just partaken in. Was it wrong? Because technically i hadn't called off Ashley and I's engagement. However Ash, being the woman she is, could've interpreted it to mean that. "Hey" A voice broke my thoughts. "Hi" I said squinting up. "I'm Mandy" The girl grinned holding out her hand. "Jason" I said politely taking it. "Something bothering you?" She asked. I stared at her, "No," I lyed. "Really? because we make the best malts, and you're not even half way through yours" she laughed pulling out her own plastic spoon and taking a bite of mine. I stared down at my cup, surprised at the girls confidence. "How old are you?" She asked. "19. How old are you?" "Eh 18 going on 19 in four months and three days" She smiled lightly. "Bummer, October third i'll be in college" I laughed. "College? Well I'll be a freshman" she snapped. I winced from the inside, why hadn't that occurred to me? "Well, Would you like to get dinner or something?" I asked her. "Dinner?" "No thanks, it's my mom's anniversary" She said. "How long?" "Oh, two years, they met here, can you believe it?" I occurred to me that it was Mom's Plural. "YOu have two moms?" I asked trying to hide my surprise. Mandy rolled her eyes. "Yeah, don't bother asking, it's a long story and i hate my mom for it" she pouted her bottom lip out slightly. "How bout tomorrow night then?" I asked. She smiled and wrapped her arms around me tightly. I looked at her amazed and laughed. "I'll pick you up around 6 then?" "Of course, here are directions to my house, it's not far from here" she wrote down directions and i smiled as she did it because she was the first girl i would be dating that would not be mad at me on our first date. I smiled, "you can keep the malt" I winked and walked off. "Bye!" she called. I turned and waved.
